History of Ancient South Gate in Guilin

According to Chen Lian's Records of Guilin County in the Early Ming Dynasty, since the sixth year of Ding Yuan, Liu Che (11), there were eight gates in Shi 'an County (now Guilin) in the Han Dynasty: (1) Weiyuanmen, north of Gan Tang Bridge, now Dongan Road Railway. (2) Qingmen, west of the former General's Office, at the intersection of Sanduo Road and Yiwu Road. (3) Chaojingmen, in the north of the old north gate, in the street near the southeast of Diecai Cinema today. (4) Longtangmen, in front of Bailong Cave, near the gate of Nanxi Park today. (5) Yangtingmen is near Guyishan (Xiangbishan was once called Yishan) about 100 meters south of Xiangshan South Road. (6) Tongbowen, in the south of Luoshan, in the power supply bureau near the foothills today. (7) Fubomen, east of Baguitang, near the northern end of binjiang road today. (8) Ximamen, east of the old waterwheel lane, at the intersection of Diecai Road and Longzhu Road. Its ancient Seoul, 30 miles a week, is 1.2 feet high.

From the Han Dynasty to the Sui Dynasty, due to the lack of information, the urban construction of each generation could not be confirmed one by one.

Guilin built several cities in the Tang Dynasty. The gates are as follows:

First, the initial construction of Zicheng. Tang Moxiufu's Record of Guilin ~ Wei Guogong Li Jing: written in the fifth year of Wude (AD 622), named Shi 'an County. Chen Minglian's "Guilin County Records": "Zicheng is in the west of Lijiang River, with a height of one foot and two. Guizhou Zicheng, from Gong Weiguo (the title of Li Jingzhi). " There are three doors: (1) Zhengnan Gate, commonly known as Mawangmen. During the Song Chongning period, Wang Zudao was reopened and renamed the Sage Gate, which is now in the playground of Zhongshan Middle School. (2) Dongyimen, called Dongjiang, commonly known as Xiadongmen, is located at the junction of the northern end of Lijiang Road and the west approach bridge of Jiefang Bridge. (3) Xiyimen, formerly known as Guajing Jiangjun rank, commonly known as Xishan Gate, is located in Jiefang East Road street outside the Municipal Education Bureau. Because most government offices are concentrated in Zicheng, they are administrative districts or Yacheng.

Second, build an outer city. Book of Old Tang Dynasty ~ Biography of Wang Yun: "At the end of Jing Long (AD 7 10), he was the governor of Guizhou. The grain of the old garrison in Guizhou, Changyunheng, Yong and other States was supported and rebuilt, and the garrison and transshipment stopped. "According to Li Bo's Preface to Nanxi Poetry and his younger brother Li She's Preface to Nanxi Xuanyan (both materials were carved in Xuanyan Mountain in the second year of the Tang Dynasty (AD 826) and still exist now), it can be seen that the Luo State rebuilt by Wang Yun, that is, the southern part of Seoul has shrunk three miles to the north, while the northern wall has not changed. Later, it was not until the Middle Ages (AD 847-860) that Cai attacked the city and restored the original appearance outside the ancient city. According to Lingui County Records, Weiyuan Gate in Seoul was renamed Waiweimen, and the other seven gates remained unchanged.

Third, build a sandwich city again. According to the Records of Guilin Local Customs, "Jiacheng is 200 steps north from the northwest corner of Zicheng (in fact, it should be 200 steps north from the northwest corner of Zicheng to Baoji Mountain and Diecai Mountain), reaching Fu Bo, which borders the south of the Yangtze River, and reaching Xiaoyao Building in Zicheng, with a round trip of six or seven miles. In the middle of the light, Chen Taibao can be built, and the former dynasty. " Jiacheng has opened two new doors: one is Nanluomen, which is located in Zhongshan Middle Road Street, near Guilin Branch of China Life Insurance Company. The second place is Beiluomen, on Zhongshan Middle Road Street, near the former Maternal and Child Health Hospital. With the construction of Jiacheng, Guilin became one of the commercial centers in the Tang Dynasty.

It took unprecedented manpower, material resources and financial resources to build Guilin City in Song Dynasty.

There are six gates in the Northern Song Dynasty: (1) Ningyuan Gate, also known as the South Gate, is on the street between Guilin Daily and Coral Hotel. (2) Pingzhimen, located between Jiefang West Road, Tang Xiaoxiao and Peizhi Primary School. (3) Li Zhengmen, Lequn Road, the north exit of Lequn Road Market. (4) Xingchunmen, near the intersection of the eastern end of Donghua Road and binjiang road. (5) Atomic City East of Jiangmen. (6) Shunqingmen, located in Zhongshan Middle Road in the south of Tang Xiaoxiao.
