The development of history

West Lake State Guesthouse, formerly known as "Liu Zhuang", originated from its earliest owner, Liu Xue. Liu Xue, 24, was stunned by the beauty of the West Lake on his way back to his hometown.

After passing Songzhuang (now called Guo Zhuang) in Yang Gongdi, I saw beautiful pavilions. I sent a business card, hoping to have a look. However, the host of Songzhuang declined Liu Gongzi's request when entertaining guests.

In those days, Songzhuang was now Guo Zhuang.

It is said that Liu Xue, who was born in a famous family, was ashamed and determined to build a bigger mansion next to the West Lake in the future, surpassing Songzhuang. Sure enough, youth and vitality are full.

Four years later, Liu Gongzi was admitted to Jinshi again, but he did not succeed in officialdom. He went into business in the sea, made a fortune by lottery business, and later produced many celebrities. He is a good friend of Sun Yat-sen and an assistant of Li Hongzhang.

1898, Liu Xue hurried back from the officialdom and shopping malls, bought a large piece of land at the southern foot of Dingjiashan with heavy money, realized his silent oath and started the construction of a new home by the West Lake. In the following years, he devoted almost all his financial resources and energy, and even moved his carved beams and painted columns out of his mansion in Guangdong and shipped them to Hangzhou.

Liu Xue likes it very much. After it was built, he lived there until his death. He didn't even follow the custom of "returning leaves to their roots" and was buried in Hangzhou after his death. Later, Liu Zhuang's fate fluctuated with the changes of the world. 1953, later generations of Liu donated Liu Zhuang to the country and renamed it "the first guest house of Zhejiang Provincial Committee".

Since 1958, Liu Zhuang has undergone a large-scale transformation, including the original "Shuizhuju", the nearby "Kangzhuang" and Dingjiashan. By the mid-1960s, the 360,000-square-meter State Guesthouse with Liu Zhuang as the main body was completed.

China's first constitution was born here, the Sino-US joint communique was discussed here, and the G20 was held here. History has endowed this garden with a heavier temperament, which is unmatched by other hotels.

What everyone likes most about the state guesthouse is the good environment. The whole hotel is a big Chinese garden with excellent greening and winding paths. Because it is only open to residents, the park is sparsely populated, so don't worry about conformity.

Walking along the lake, you can see the opposite Su Causeway and Leifeng Tower and enjoy the scenery of the West Lake.

But this time at the West Lake State Guesthouse, I completely changed. I had a good experience from booking, check-in to check-out. Every waiter I met, from the front desk and concierge to the younger brother driving the battery car and the younger sister in the restaurant, was skilled in business and enthusiastic and restrained.
