Ji 'an, formerly known as Luling and Jizhou, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province, People's Republic of China (PRC), located in the middle of Jiangxi Province. The middle reaches of the Ganjiang River connect Hunan in the west, central Luo Xiao in the south, and the rich Ji Tai Plain. It is one of the earliest ancient county towns in Jiangxi and one of the birthplaces of Jiangxi culture.

The development of history

As early as the Neolithic Age more than 5,000 years ago, there were already human activities here. During the Xia and Shang Dynasties, it belonged to the southwest of Yangzhou, one of the Kyushu in the Central Plains. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it belonged to Wu, Yue and Chu successively.

In the 26th year of Qin Shihuang (2 1 1 years ago), the original site was luling county, belonging to Jiujiang county, and it was changed to Zhang Yu county in Han dynasty.

In the first year of Xingping in the Eastern Han Dynasty (194), Sun Ce designated Zhangyu County as Luling County and ruled Xichang County (now Taihe County).

In the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1368), Ji 'an Road was abandoned, and Ji 'an House was set up, which governed 9 counties. The Qing dynasty followed the system of the Ming dynasty.
