Qiongtai Teachers College is a public full-time ordinary institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor, Qiongtai Academy, was founded in the forty-fourth year of Qing Emperor Kangxi (1705) and has a history of 300 years. For more than 300 years, Qiongtai has always stood at the forefront of history, spreading culture and promoting social civilization and progress. It has trained many talents for the economic construction and social development in southern Xinjiang of China, and created a "century-old normal school" which enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad. In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Qiongtai Teachers College was established on the basis of the former Hainan Qiongtai Teachers College and merged with Hainan Lingao Teachers College.
