1, Wang Mian

Wu's novel The Scholars in Qing Dynasty was written in the 14th year of Qianlong (1749) or earlier, and passed down from generation to generation as a manuscript. It was first carved in the eighth year of Jiaqing (1803). It mainly describes the activities and mental outlook of intellectuals, officials and gentry in the late feudal society.
The fifty-six chapters of the book depict different expressions of "fame and fortune" by various people in a realistic way.
