Record of love visit to Yutian, Zunhua
If love is compared to a gourd of drizzle in the spring morning, then it allows lonely people to enjoy spiritual nourishment; if love is compared to a clear spring flowing in the summer night, then it Let the hot and sleepless people appreciate the poetic tranquility; if love is compared to a beacon standing in the sea, then it allows the ship sailing in the night to find its way forward; if love is compared to a small umbrella held up on a rainy night , then she allows people who wander in a foreign land to get the shelter of family affection; if love is compared to a piece of toffee embedded in the mouth, then she allows people who have drank yellow lotus for a long time to taste the sweetness of life.
Love is perfect and pure. Love makes people feel warm, see the light, be full of strength, and overcome difficulties. Love helps people ignite hope with their heart and spread love into the world. As the saying goes, "Giving roses to others leaves a lingering fragrance in your hands." Use the power of love to open up hope. Slowly, you will rediscover a different attitude towards life, a different source of happiness, and a different life. Way.
Entering the golden autumn of September, the bright sunshine is everywhere, showing off the colorful colors, the melodious chirping of birds and the chirping of insects, the intoxicating aroma wafting everywhere, and the green world everywhere , a sea of ??flowers. Against the background of such a wonderful season, at seven o'clock in the morning on September 12, a group of 24 of us gathered at the Jinji Expressway to officially launch the two-day love visit to Yutian in Zunhua. Let love ignite hope, build a strong city defense with love, start a new journey of love in a unique weekend way, and let the "small self" happiness in your heart be sublimated into the "big self" happiness that more people need.
In April 2018, I was fortunate to visit Yutian and Zunhua, Tangshan City, Hebei Province for the first time with several like-minded friends, and recorded every family of poor children with love and sincerity. situation. Despite the local poverty, many hard-working children have been raised. After visiting, I was very moved. In the past two years, although I have traveled to many places to explore the current situation of poor children, I still feel deeply concerned about the situation of children in Zunhua and Yutian, whether it has improved, and other issues that need to be solved urgently. .
In order to explore these questions and resolve my inner doubts, I got up at 5:30 yesterday morning, went out at 6:30, arrived at the meeting place at 6:30, and set off on time at 7:00, heading towards Zunhua and Yutian, Tangshan City, Hebei Province Go ahead. We walked Jinji, changed to Rongwu, exited the expressway, transferred to the provincial highway, crossed the county seat, and entered the village. After a long journey of nearly two hours, we came to the first stop of this trip - Xindianzi Town, Zunhua City Taiping Joint Primary School.
Da Taiping Joint Primary School was founded in the 1980s. It is a school jointly contracted by five surrounding villages. It aims to provide nine-year compulsory education to all school-age children in the surrounding villages. Taipinglian Primary School covers an area of ??9,675 square meters and has a construction area of ??1,561 square meters. Since 2012, the school has continuously increased investment in improving school infrastructure, and has successively replaced the school’s doors, windows, tables and chairs. In 2018, with the support of the national and municipal education bureaus, the campus was renovated to make the school Infrastructure has been qualitatively changed.
When we first entered the campus at nine o'clock in the morning, the beautiful and spacious campus gave people a refreshing and shocking feeling. The school repainted the rows of bungalow classrooms that were originally simple and rough. The bright colors gave students a "silent teacher" and each "speaking" wall created a good environment for students to study and learn. living environment. In July this year, a volunteer service organization in Zunhua donated a basketball court to the school and built it in the square on the east side of the campus. At the same time, more than 600 square meters of artificial lawn have been laid on the campus, and various plants such as magnolia, plum, swallowtail, golden doll, and weeping willow have been planted on the campus to provide students with a positive, clean and tidy campus environment in an all-round way. In addition, in order to provide more convenient care for children in surrounding villages, Taiping Joint Primary School specially built an age-appropriate kindergarten on the campus and opened a plantation with an area of ??more than 100 square meters in the kindergarten. Such a beautiful and beautiful campus environment creates a "home" feeling for students.
After talking with teachers from Da Taiping Joint Primary School, I learned that the school environment has indeed developed in recent years with the strong support of policies from all parties. Compared with hardware facilities, the school currently lacks software facilities, such as library rooms and computer rooms. That is why the school currently only admits students in grades one to four of primary school, while students in grades five and six need to transfer to Kangezhuang Joint Primary School, which is relatively far away.
It has become the wish of each of our volunteers to allow the school to have its own library to help students gain a broader perspective and learn more knowledge beyond books. Through multiple contacts, we received thousands of donated books suitable for school-age students. During this visit, we specially selected hundreds of children's books and a dozen bookshelves nearly one meter high and brought them to the Taiping Joint Primary School in order to help the school build a library of its own. It has also become an important task for us to come to Zunhua this time.
At nine ten in the morning, after entering the campus, the first thing I did was to go to the classroom prepared for the library under the guidance of the principal. The library of Taiping Joint Primary School is located in one of the classrooms in a row of bungalows just a few steps away from the teacher's office. This location selection not only facilitates students to borrow books, but also facilitates teachers to quickly explain book knowledge. When you walk into the classroom, the first thing you notice is that some donated books are stored in the classroom. These books are scattered on the floor, on the table, on the windowsill, etc. The first impression is that it is chaotic. However, there is a different style in the chaos. Four pictures of "Cherish Time", "Quiet Meditation", "Strive" and "Study Diligently" are posted on the walls on both sides of the classroom in the form of artistic calligraphy. On the blackboard near the back door of the classroom, the four words "walk slowly and quietly" are written in artistic calligraphy. And these elaborate decorations remind students all the time of the profound truth that "there is a road to the mountain of books, and diligence is the path, and there is no limit to the sea of ??learning, and the boat is the boat."
After briefly appreciating the classroom that was about to become the library, we soon began the intense and busy work of building the library. Some people moved books, some assembled bookshelves, some posted library regulations, some stacked books on bookshelves, some placed flowers, some set tables, some hung library signs, and some took videos and photos to record beautiful moments. An hour later, the originally messy library took on new life. A brand new loving library stands proudly in front of the world. In the subsequent brief unveiling ceremony of the Love Library, the principal expressed his sincere gratitude to us and the many charity volunteer service organizations. Although the library is small, it is full of love and hope. What we hope most is that this small library can become a beacon and guiding light for thousands of poor students to achieve their dreams and realize their hopes. Aiding students is actually helping hope.
As the brief unveiling ceremony of the Love Library came to an end, the Zunhua Love Visit also came to an end, and we headed for the Yutian Love Visit. During this love visit to Zunhua, although I did not see the poor children I saw during my first visit in 2018, the completion of a small library also allowed me to see the thirst for knowledge and the future of children in poor areas. hope. After two hours of conversations with teachers from Taiping Joint Primary School, I was deeply touched by the following points.
First, the Taiping Joint Primary School mainly caters to children from five nearby villages. It currently has more than 200 students, some of whom are kindergarten children. Normally, there are more than 100 students in grades one to four. There are one class for each grade, with about twenty or thirty people in each class. The teacher told me that the enrollment is now much better than before, and everyone’s desire for children to study and study is increasing day by day. From the simple words, it can be seen that both local adults and children have a strong curiosity and thirst for knowledge.
Second, compared to the number of students, teachers obviously show some shortcomings. Teachers told me that because of the shortage of teachers, they often play multiple roles and teach classes for multiple grades or even multiple subjects. For example, a teacher told me that she teaches Chinese and mathematics in this school, and also told me that this teaching method is the norm in this school. Each of them spoke very naturally, but I was extremely surprised to hear them. It is hard to imagine how the teachers prepare several different courses together. I sincerely admire the teachers for their hard work for this school and the students.
Third, I have been to many rural hope primary schools similar to the Taiping Joint Primary School. However, most of the teachers there are mainly volunteer teachers, supplemented by local teachers. When I talked with the teachers of the joint primary school, they told me that the teachers here were all from nearby villages and towns. After completing their studies, they returned to their hometowns and contributed their meager efforts to the education of their hometowns. They told me that some volunteer teachers used to come here, but because they were short-term teachers, there were many unfavorable factors for the long-term education of the students. Therefore, there are relatively few supporting teachers now, but it is a big challenge for the energy of local teachers.
After finishing the donation activity for the Love Library of Da Taiping Joint Primary School in Xindianzi Town, Zunhua City, a group of 24 of us set out on the journey again. More than an hour later, we arrived in Yutian County successfully. It was lunch time. After a brief lunch break, we started to connect with local volunteers. Then we divided the 24 people into nine groups according to the visit list. Led by local volunteers, the love visit in Yutian County officially kicked off.
I was assigned to the first group, with a total of *** three members. The division of labor was inquiring and recording, taking photos, and observing. Under the leadership of local volunteers, we officially started the visit and visited six children in total. Out of the original intention of protecting the privacy of poor children, I will omit the names of all children when introducing the details of the visit below.
First, it is hard to imagine that a child in the third grade of junior high school is 176cm tall and weighs only 100 pounds. The first impression is that the child is undernourished. The child's father originally had a car repairing skill passed down from his ancestors, but he suffered from ankylosing spondylitis more than 20 years ago. As a result, the child's father can only walk with crutches and cannot do any work. In order to treat his father's illness, the originally well-off family owed tens of thousands in debt. The family's income relies solely on the mother working part-time to make ends meet, but they cannot make ends meet and their income is unstable. My child has an older sister who is currently in her third year of college. She works part-time and gets scholarships to earn living expenses and occasionally subsidize the family. My child is in the third grade of junior high school this year and will take the high school entrance examination next year. He is excellent in both character and study and has a clear goal. He must be admitted to the best local high school - Yutian No. 1 Middle School.
It is hard to imagine that such a family with high debts, poverty and disease could raise two such outstanding children. When I asked my child what his "small wish" was, he hesitated for a moment and told me that he wanted a set of exercise books for English and physics for the high school entrance examination. There was only one reason. He had to get into Yutian No. 1 Middle School for the high school entrance examination, and these two subjects were his weak points.
In the half-hour conversation with the child, what gave me the most feeling was that the child did not give up on himself because of the poor family situation. On the contrary, he is very sunny, optimistic, cheerful, and extremely thirsty for knowledge. "My destiny is up to me and not God", and he has been working hard to change his own situation. This must be the spiritual wealth he inherited from his parents.
The second one is the second grade of elementary school. Multiple labels such as naughty, playful, shy, etc. all constitute the same characteristics of children of the same age in different eras. The same was true for this child. When we walked into his house, he was playing carefree with two friends. His body was covered with mud and his face was covered with sweat. The child’s father told us that his father had suffered from uremia for many years and was unable to work. He needed to go to the hospital for dialysis three times a week. The child's mother contracted encephalitis when she was a child and is still unable to do heavy physical labor. The family's monthly income only relies on the subsistence allowance for the couple, making it difficult to make ends meet. With only a small amount of land at home, a lot of farm work can only be done by the child's elderly grandfather. With limited land, the agricultural products produced are only used as dishes for home consumption.
Young children may still find it difficult to understand the family situation. When I asked him about my little wish, he was still young and unable to understand what wishes and dreams were. He thought about it for a long time, but he couldn't express it. Finally, his father asked us to prepare a set of exercise books for him for second and third grade. We hope that our children will become dragons and that our daughters will become phoenixes. Even if the family is poor, we still hope that our children can use knowledge to achieve phoenix nirvana. Also from his father's mouth, we learned that the naughty, playful, and shy child also has a sensible and filial side. You can imagine that when you see this child next time, he may have become less naughty and playful, actively helping his family with work, and retaining curiosity and thirst for knowledge about everything.
The third one is a high school girl who has just been admitted to Yutian No. 1 Middle School. She is excellent in both character and study, and is slim and graceful. The family was originally happy, but when the child was about to be born, her father unfortunately died in the line of duty. Only one month after giving birth to her, her mother placed her in her grandparents' house and remarried on her own. From then on, the child and her mother no longer had anything to do with each other. connection. For more than ten years, the responsibility of raising children has been left to the elderly grandparents alone. As the children grow up, the physical condition of the grandparents deteriorates, and elderly diseases such as high blood pressure and heart disease accompany the grandparents. The family's only source of income comes from his grandfather, who is in his sixties and works as a construction worker, but it is extremely unstable, with a monthly income of up to 3,000 yuan.
Yutian No. 1 Middle School is the best high school in Yutian County. In the high school entrance examination, my child was admitted with an excellent score that is 20 points higher than the admission score of Yutian No. 1 Middle School. She has both good character and academic performance. When I asked her about her little wish , quite shocking.
After hesitating for a long time, I initially wanted to buy a cotton-padded jacket for my grandma, but later we brought a sub-new cotton-padded jacket. Let the child choose again. I originally thought that I would choose a small wish for myself, but I didn't expect that the final small wish would be to prepare a cotton-padded jacket for my elderly grandfather. With a height of 170cm and a weight of 120 pounds, it is hard to imagine that such a thin grandfather has to bear the burden of the family.
Children are not only excellent in character and academics, but more importantly, they know how to be grateful and repay. Although her ability is limited, she is well aware of the hardships of her family and the sacrifices of her grandparents. She uses her own meager power to express her gratitude to everyone who helped her. As we all know, every year in Hebei Province, the college entrance examination results in more students, fewer students, and higher scores. She, who was admitted to Yutian No. 1 Middle School, also knew all this. Although she did not tell us what major she wanted to study in the future or what industry she wanted to work in, she told us that we must be admitted to a prestigious university. Bless her and believe that those who know how to be grateful will get more help from others.
The fourth one is a little boy in the fifth grade of primary school. Perhaps due to his family situation, compared to the naughty, playful and shy children of the same age, he is a bit more stable and reserved. Originally a happy family, there was an elder brother in the family. When his elder brother was young, he was diagnosed with leukemia. From then on, he started borrowing money to see a doctor. Now, although he is an adult, he is unable to work and can only rely on the subsistence allowance of about 1,000 yuan per month. Get by. In order to raise the cost of treating leukemia, his father worked day and night, but unfortunately, his father died of illness a few years ago, and now the family still has tens of thousands of yuan in foreign debt. When the mother gave birth to the child, she was already forty years old and considered an advanced maternal age. She originally had a wonderful idea, but she was unable to work due to postpartum varicose veins. Now the family's monthly income is barely surviving on subsistence allowances. There is also a grandmother who is nearly seventy years old and lives with them. However, high blood pressure, heart disease and other age-related diseases trouble her.
In other words, this child is the only healthy person in the family. Because of this, being excellent in both character and study, being filial to his elders, and being grateful have become his special label at a young age. When I asked him about his little wish, the child thought for a long time and told me that he wanted a basketball. The reason is just to make himself stronger. When he was young, he would think that a strong body could protect his family and elders.
The fifth one is also a student who has just entered the third grade of junior high school. His face is full of joy and his chubby figure gives people a strong affinity. During the conversation, we learned that when the child was young, he suffered from aplastic anemia. In order to treat the child, he often traveled to and from Beijing Children's Hospital, spending all the family's savings and borrowing money to survive. Fortunately, the child's condition is now under control, and he can go to Beijing Children's Hospital for a checkup once a year. As he lives on campus, he will receive a subsidy of about 600 yuan from the school every six months.
In order to treat his children, his father works part-time outside all year round, earning about 3,000 yuan a month. This is the family's only monthly income. Both his mother and grandmother are unable to do any work due to their physical conditions. Although the family has farmland, the amount is small, and the annual income from agricultural products is only three to four thousand yuan. When I asked Wei about his wishes, he told me that he usually likes to read books related to science fiction or science stories, and he hopes to own some such books.
He loves reading, has a strong sense of affinity, and his face is filled with happiness and joy. When he takes the high school entrance examination next year, his goal is only Yutian No. 1 Middle School. I believe he will have a promising future. When we walked out of his house, the sky was not beautiful and it started to rain suddenly. As a result, he held an umbrella and walked with us to the entrance of the village to express his gratitude to us.
The sixth one is a freshman who has just been admitted to a university in Shijiazhuang. My parents divorced six or seven years ago. My father suffers from uremia and has to go to the hospital for dialysis every two days on average. My grandfather suffers from hemiplegia. When we walked into her house, only her grandparents were at home, and her information was completely unknown to her grandparents, so I won’t share it here.
At eight o'clock in the evening, after a day of visiting, we returned to the hotel with a tired body and mind. As the saying goes, "Happy families are all the same, but unhappy families are all different." Although I did not meet the children again when I first visited Yutian Zunhua in 2018, I looked at each child in the inquiry record before dinner. The basic family situation is full of emotions and sadness.
I often say that visiting is not simply about investigating and asking, or helping and rescuing these children.
Strictly speaking, it is precisely this group of lovely children who do not abandon or give up in the difficult life, pursue faith in life, and are grateful to the country, society, and family that have infected and inspired them with a brand-new spiritual wealth. We continue to chase, explore, and be grateful, which constantly inspires us to face ourselves, constantly establish correct beliefs, and constantly review and discover new goals.
Love is beautiful and pure. If we continue to infect, pass on, and be grateful, the spark of love will surely thrive and form a prairie fire. Let us dedicate our love together in our limited lives to experience unforgettable and meaningful life experiences. In the dedication, we can experience happiness, harvest happiness, and make the world a purer and more beautiful place!
