Shaanxi (ShaanxiProvince), referred to as "Shaan" or "Qin", is one of the provincial administrative units of the People's Republic of China and the ancient capital of Xi'an. The geographical location is between 105°29′~111°15′ east longitude and 31°42′~39°35′ north latitude. The natural division spans the north and south due to the Qinling Mountains-Huaihe River line. Located in the hinterland of the northwest, across the middle of the two major river basins of the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, it is an important hub connecting the eastern and central regions of China with the northwest and southwest.
