Shizuoka Travel Guide

Shizuoka is a lively Japanese city that can represent the historical and cultural elements of Japan as a whole. Visiting Shizuoka is equivalent to visiting Japan, making it an excellent tourist destination. Here is a detailed strategy for you.

Shizuoka Prefecture is geographically located in the center of Japan. Mount Fuji is a world cultural heritage located in the north of Shizuoka Prefecture, and Suruga Bay, the deepest bay in Japan, a member of the "World's Most Beautiful Bay Club", is located in the south. In addition, there are Izu Peninsula and Lake Hamami.

Since Mount Fuji Shizuoka Airport has opened regular direct flights from Hangzhou to Shizuoka and Ningbo to Shizuoka, Hangzhou citizens can fly to the country of Mount Fuji in just 2 hours and enjoy delicious food and beautiful scenery.

When you go to Shizuoka now, you can not only taste various seafood and soak in hot springs, but also take the Suruga Bay ferry to see Mount Fuji with a horizon of 3,776 meters.

Mount Fuji, the Shinkansen and cherry blossoms are symbols of Japan, and Shizuoka is the only prefecture in Japan where you can experience these three scenic spots at the same time. A good visit to Shizuoka is equivalent to a visit to Japan.

According to statistics from the Japanese Government Tourism Bureau, 77% of Chinese tourists to Japan in 2016 were tourists. Among Chinese tourists traveling to Japan, independent tourists account for 62% of the total.

Compared with Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, the three best tourist cities in China, Shizuoka is not that famous. But Shizuoka not only has the world heritage sites of Mount Fuji and Kuzan reverberatory furnaces, but also world-class hot springs and gourmet food, such as longevity strawberries, mustard greens from Kawazu and Hideyama Temple, eels from Hamamatsu and Mishima, and cherry shrimp from Yubi wait. Shizuoka is also famous in Japan for its tea and beef quality.

Shizuoka Prefecture accounts for more than 70% of Japan’s wasabi production. In March, the Shizuoka and Izu areas of Shizuoka Prefecture were recognized as a World Agricultural Heritage as the "Traditional Cultivation of Shizuoka Water Wasabi."

Recently added attractions such as Mount Fuji World Heritage Center, Japan's Menhei Terrace, and Fuji Tea Museum are also popular among tourists. The appearance of the Shizuoka Prefecture Mount Fuji World Heritage Center is an inverted cone covered with wooden lattice, shaped like Mount Fuji turned upside down. Here, you can admire the scenery of Mount Fuji projected on the wall along the slope and experience the feeling of climbing Mount Fuji. At the end of the slope is the observation hall, where you can see the magnificent Mount Fuji.

The cycling events of the 2008 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics were both held in Shizuoka. From July 25 to September 5, 2008, the road and mountain bike competitions were held in Oyama Town, Shizuoka Prefecture and Izu City respectively.

The Izu Peninsula is a famous hot spring town in Japan. Known as the two major hot spring resorts among the three major hot springs in Japan, both are located in Shizuoka: one is the hot spring resort "Atami Onsen" which is very close to Tokyo and has convenient transportation, and the other is known for its rich water volume and is called Yusen. "Ito Onsen". There are other famous hot springs such as Atagawa, Inaba, Kawazuhama, Karashima, etc.

After watching the game, it would be nice to take a bath in a hot spring. Toi Onsen is the oldest and largest hot spring town on the west coast of Izu. It was the famous Jinshan Mountain in the Edo period and was crowded with people. Since the first hot spring was discovered in Anrakuji Temple in 1611, it has gradually become a dilapidated tourist gathering place. The hot spring in Karashima is called makeup hot spring, and you can see the wonderful scenery of Suruga Bay from the pavilion.

This should be the fifth time I have reviewed the itinerary in Japan, and I plan to start recording it from this time on.

Itinerary: April 29th to May 6th, 2008 (just short holiday on May 1st, please take 3 days off)

Number of days: 8 days

Travel Number of people: 4 people

Per capita cost: air ticket 2,300 yuan (round trip from Shanghai to Shizuoka), hotel 3,800 yuan (7 nights), machine drinks 6,100 yuan/person.

Itinerary Overview:

1Day 1 Shanghai-Shizuoka-Izu Arakawamu 11:10-14:45 Shanghai to Shizuoka. The flight was smooth, not delayed, and arrived half an hour early, so we could catch up with the update. Take the early airport bus to Shizuoka.

Shizuoka Airport is the airport with the best Chinese service I have ever been to. From the moment you get off the plane to the exit, the service is in authentic Chinese. There is a convenience store 7-11. Because our next stop is relatively remote, we bought some snacks and food at the convenience store first.

Airport-Shizuoka Station: The No. 5 bus stop is on the left of the airport exit. Side. Get on the bus according to the schedule and get off at Shizuoka Station. Get on the bus, sort out the coupons, and pay when you get off, 1,000 yen per person, and prepare 1,000 yen banknotes in advance.

The car does not charge 5,000, nor does it charge 10,000.

The following is a reference for shifts. Please check carefully from the official website. Shifts vary depending on working days or days off. You must check again!

Shizuoka Station-Izu Atagawa: Start the long train journey. Take the JR Tokaido Line to Atami Station, transfer to the JR Ito Line to Ito, and then transfer to the Izu Express to Izu Atakawa. The whole journey takes more than 2 hours. Since it would be late to arrive at the hotel, we chose to leave the station to eat at Atami Station and then take the bus back to the hotel.

Hotel——Atagawakan, Atagawakaku: I read the guide before and mentioned the invincible sea view, the best hotel in Izu, etc. After checking in, I found that the view was really good, it was an excellent sea view room. This is a photo taken from the hotel’s viewing location.

Izu City Hotel will change desserts for guests every day. If there are delicious ones, you can go to the 1F to buy them. I recommend the hotel's dried fish and tea. We didn't buy tea at the time, but regretted it in the end. I went to Shizuoka and found that I couldn’t buy this green tea, and it tasted like matcha.

Izu City

The most recommended thing about this hotel is the open-air hot spring! There is a sea view outside, and you can soak in the hot springs facing the sea. The key is that these two hot springs are free. We specially invited Hayasaki. The weather in Izu City was not very good on this day. The scenery you see on a cloudy day is pretty much the same.

Day 2: Chengqi Coast - Oishi Mountain - Izu City Cactus Park, wake up to the sound of waves in the morning, and try the hotel's breakfast first.

I went out after breakfast in Izu City~ It takes about 5-10 minutes to get to the station from Atagawakaku, but it is still a bit tiring because it is uphill. I saw carp streamers unique to this season on the road.

Izu Atagawa stood in Izu City, looking cute under the blue sky, and it felt like a Japanese anime.

Izu City

Buy an Izu Express 2-day ticket at the station ticket window for 2,000 yen per ticket. Also, remember to ask station staff for timetables. There are three types of trains on the Izu Express Line. In addition to ordinary trains, there are also black ship trains.

The first stop: Chengqi Coast! After getting off the bus, do not leave the station. Turn right and that’s enough soup! It's a beautiful place, and it's very comfortable to soak your feet. The temperature of the foot soup was a bit high, and we all turned into pig's feet.

Chenghai Coast

After leaving the station, follow the road signs, cross Cherry Blossom Avenue, and walk for about 20-30 minutes to Chengqi Coast. Beautiful private villas line both sides of the road. The walk is still very comfortable, but the road sign says 1.7 kilometers. I think I walked maybe 3 kilometers.

Second stop: Go through the parking lot and reach the scenic spot. Then it’s time to snap. It is more convenient for girls to wear sneakers because they have to climb up and down the Seiki coast to take pictures. The scenery here is really beautiful~ The lighthouse and suspension bridge are both together, and you basically take photos next to the rocks. The suspension bridge is relatively ordinary.

Chenghai Coast

After coming out of the city coast, go back the same way and follow the signs at the intersection in the other direction - Ocean Park. It takes about 10 minutes to walk there. According to the timetable, take the bus to the park (Cactus Park) and get off at the entrance of Dashi Mountain. Since we didn't eat, we had a light meal on the 2F at the entrance, but it was delicious. This is the case in Japan. If you order casually, the chance of making a mistake is very low.

The third stop: Dashi Mountain! After eating, we rushed downstairs to queue up to buy tickets, take the cable car, and visit the scenery of Dashi Mountain. Cable car tickets are 500 round trip per person. If you have an Izu Express ticket, the travel ticket can be 50 yuan cheaper.

Oishi Mountain

Oishi Mountain

Omiyayama is the place where the meteorite fell and the male and female protagonists called each other by their names in the movie Your Name. The circle around the crater is a walking trail, and you can see it on the mountain if the weather is good.

The fourth stop: Cactus Park! The last attraction of the day. After coming back from the cable car, the Cactus Park is diagonally across the road. Actually I think this name is very strange. The entire park is mainly an exhibition of cactus plants in the zoo. The main purpose of coming here is the capybaras, but unfortunately, the temperature may be a bit high when we go, and the capybaras don't want to soak in the hot springs, which is a pity. But although this zoo is small, it has a wide variety of animals, including gorillas.

The cactus and capybara in the park are very gentle. Play however you like. Their fur is a bit stiff, like a broom.

After visiting the Cactus Park, return to the park entrance, take a bus to Izu Plateau Station, and then transfer to the Izu Express to return to the hotel.

Since half board had been booked, we had to make it in time for dinner at the hotel.

Dinner is divided into two time periods, 6:00 and 6:30, and is eaten in the room. We chose to eat in one of the two rooms. The dinner at the hotel can be said to be very rich, from aperitifs to desserts. The classic Cai's we had that day tasted very good.

After the second day of the trip, the remaining time is reserved for soaking in the hot springs.

3-day sea-viewing train - Mishima originally planned to go to Hejin Xiushan Temple on this day, but temporarily changed to Mishima, mainly because he was attracted by a promotional photo of Mishima.

First stop: sea view train. According to the timetable we got on the first day, we saw a train coming around 9:30, so we checked on the spot to catch the train. Basically, each car has a row of sea-view seats. The best scenery is in the direction from Izumi to Xiatian. Only two stops have unparalleled sea views. I don't remember the details. Anyway, you can get off after these two stops.

Izu City

Second stop: Mishima Suspension Bridge. Looking at the perfect sea view, we took the opposite direction to Mishima, changing from the Izu Express to JR. After exiting Mishima Station, we bought a one-day ticket near the gate bus station and took any bus. Go to Mishima’s large suspension bridge SKYWALK. This is also the name of the station. After getting off the bus, follow the signs and you'll be there. In fact, this attraction is not recommended. I was completely attracted there by the official promotional map. In fact, I'm a little disappointed.

The actual photos taken may also be due to the weather not being clear enough. Just walk back and forth from this bridge. It's more comfortable with a breeze. But judging from the scenery, Raie

The third stop: Mishima Taisha Shrine, return to the original bus and get off in front of Mishima Taisha Shrine. The characters for the shrine are similar to those for other shrines in Japan. I think the most representative temples and shrines in Japan are Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Buddha Sword Paddy Shrine. The others are nothing special. Go to the shrine to draw lots and buy amulets as usual. When I came out, I suddenly saw a deer park nearby. It only took me 2 minutes to walk there, so I went to see the deer. It’s a pity that the deer here are all in enclosures, so it’s not as fun as walking beside you in Nara.

When I came out of Mishima Society, there was an ice cream shop opposite Mishima Society. It was delicious! Don't miss it if you go.

The fourth stop: Yuanbingweichuan

After eating the ice cream, I followed the navigation to the place that often appeared in this Japanese drama. It is not common in general guides, but this attraction is recommended on the one-day ticket, which is very worthwhile. Many young couples and girls in Japan like to sit by the stream and soak their feet. Very enjoyable. We rested and dabbed here for a long time.

Mishima’s famous foods: croquettes and eel rice. Croquettes can be found everywhere, and any kind is delicious. So our next target is Sakura’s home, Mishima’s most famous eel rice. It takes about 5-10 minutes to follow the navigation from Yuanbing Weichuan. We arrived at 5 o'clock, waited for 10 minutes, and went in. Since we thought the set menu was not very appealing, we ordered an eel rice dish. It seems to be 4,300 yen each.

Mishima eel rice tastes really good. I can give it 4 stars~~After dinner, we went back to the hotel to rest and soak in the hot spring~

4Day4 Izu-Shizuoka

This morning, we got up early and went to the hot spring while there were few people. Then we went to the beach downstairs to play for a while. The location is still very good. Downstairs is the beach. After returning from the beach, the hotel staff also gave us towels, which was sweet~

Izu City

Izu City

After checking out, take your luggage. Follow the route on the first day, Izu Express – transfer to JR and return to Shizuoka. We chose the Sun Palace Hotel in Shizuoka, which was very convenient. It is only a 5-minute walk from the south exit of Shizuoka Station. There are two 7-Elevens near the hotel, and there are restaurants such as Guandong cooking and aquatic products store downstairs.

Shizuoka’s main shopping area is near the north exit of Shizuoka Station. On this day, after we packed our luggage, we quickly had a meal of ramen, and then started the rhythm of shopping at buybuy.

After coming out of the north exit of Shizuoka Station, go down the underground tunnel and look at the signs coming out of Wufu Town to reach the main commercial street. There are various small shops and pharmacies on both sides of the road. Shopping suggestions are as follows:

To buy cosmeceuticals: Matsumoto Ito and Daikuni Cosmetics at No. 2 Shopping Street. They have them all, and they’re cheap. Remember to use coupons.

Cosmetics bought in department stores: Isetan basically has them, except for IPSA. If you want to buy IPSA, you can go to Matsuzakaya, which is located opposite the north exit of Shizuoka Station.

Buying clothes: I recommend Isetan 2F and PARCO; 1- If young girls go to PARCO to buy decisively, 2F is more beautiful.

Buying letter: Isetan B1, there is an imported supermarket, as well as a variety of delicious fruits, lunch boxes, tea, skewers, fried chicken, etc.

LOFT: Located in PARCOding'lo, a place to buy cosmetics and stationery.

Shizuoka Station: One side sells clothes, which is good for girls to go shopping; the other side is a food court, mainly selling bento skewers, octopus balls and the like.

Day 5: Visit to Sanbao Coast, Maruko’s hometown

First stop: visit Maruko’s hometown - Qingshui Rujiang Primary School. Walk from the hotel to Shin-Shizuoka Station, take the Shizuoka Railway to Sakurabashi Station, get off the train and follow the navigation for about 10 minutes, and you will arrive at Kiyomizu Rue Elementary School. Fortunately, it was a day off when we went. There were no students in class and no one was in the school, so we sneaked in.

After leaving the elementary school, walking forward is the Zhufen Yangtang shop that Xiaowanzi often patronizes. The store is still open, and the products inside will also have pictures of small balls. We each bought lamb soup as a souvenir.

After coming out of the mutton soup shop, we walked in the opposite direction. Soon after, it came to Wanzi's home, and now it had another owner. But there is a photo of Wanzi on the window, and the overpass near Wanzi's house is also where Wanzi and his grandfather often walk.

We walked across the overpass to Bachuan and watched the fireworks with new friends from the new season of the movie (your wife was abducted by a classmate Hanawa). Then, walk straight ahead along the path on the right. In about 10 minutes, you will see the cafeteria that Maruko often goes to.

Shizuoka, this is a photo taken from the other side of Bachuan River. We presume that the Shizuoka Railway has been built where Maruko once stood, so we only have photos from a distance. The blue location is the railway.

Kanada Canteen, a place where Maruko often goes, also posted recommendations for Maruko in the store. There is a Japanese guy in the store who can speak Chinese. The business during lunch time was pretty good, and it was basically full~ We were really not interested in the eel liver that Meatballs loved, so we all ordered the set meal we wanted to eat. Highly recommend the tuna rice, the one on the far left in the picture. Very very delicious!

After dinner, according to the navigation, we will go to the Vanity Shrine where Maruko often goes, and we will still pass Maruko’s home on the way.

That’s it for the visit to Maruko’s hometown~ Next we are going to the second stop of the day: Maruko Museum! It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the shrine. It's in a department store on the 3F, and you need to go through the arcade to get there. The souvenir shops here are really not that great. We went home with all kinds of gifts, but came back empty-handed. But the museum itself is lovely and there are lots of photo opportunities.

After watching the meatballs, we navigated and took a bus to Sambo Coast. It takes about 15 minutes to walk after getting off the bus. It's a bit far, but the scenery along the way is nice. The biggest feature of Sanbao Coast is the black sand beach, which is a better place to visit. After seeing the beach, we basically left.

Sambo Coast

Due to lack of experience the day before, Sambo Coast thought that like Tokyo and Osaka, pharmacies would be open until 11 o'clock. As a result, the drug store in Shizuoka closed at 9 o'clock, and we didn't buy anything yet. On this day, we chose g

Shizuoka 6th Tenjingu Shrine-Maedago Oda Mirror Lake-Dream Suspension Bridge

This place is windy. If you’re not going in the summer, remember to wear a jacket and sneakers! We've been shivering in the wind all day.

Because I didn’t book a hotel in Senzu, I could only combine the two attractions, Oda Mirror Lake and Dream Suspension Bridge, into one in one day. After counting the flights, we have to catch the 7:48 train from Jingu. So we set off at 6:45, had breakfast and lunch, and took the JR Tokaido Line from Shizuoka Station to Jingu Station. If you buy the Okawa Tour Pass at the station, the next track is the Oigawa Railway, and you can take it directly to Senzu Station. The tourist pass is 4,400 yen per person.

This is the train timetable from Jingu to Qianqian:

According to the timetable, we have arranged to go to Aodajing Lake first. After thousands of passengers arrived at the station, we directly transferred to another small train (Abt-style train) and got off at Aodajinghu Station. The scenery along the way is endless, and some stations stop for 3 minutes to take photos of passengers getting off the bus.

Abt train timetable: (See the official website of Dajing-Sichuan Railway for timetable)

Abt train

Arrived at Aojing Lake! This is the only station built on the lake with beautiful scenery. Follow the signs up the hill. You can get a bird's eye view of the surrounding panorama. I

We carried food and drinks for lunch and looked at the scenery, which we really enjoyed. After visiting here, it is recommended to return to Aodajinghu Station and take a bus back to Qiantou. If you follow the signs to another station, it will take at least 60 minutes on the mountain road.

After reading, go back the same way, take a small train to Qiantou, and then take a bus to Cunyou Gorge after leaving the station. Here you must pay attention to the time of the return shuttle bus and the departure location of the shuttle bus. For example, the last bus is not where you get off, but halfway.

It takes about 30 minutes to walk from the station to the suspension bridge, and you have to go through a tunnel. Maybe we went during the May Day holiday, which is also a celebration day in Japan, so there were a lot of people. Seeing that we had to wait 60 minutes at the suspension bridge, we started the waiting process shivering in the cold wind.

After waiting for an hour, I found that there was little hope, so I went further and found that the queue would take at least 3-4 hours. So, we gave up and missed the suspension bridge, so we had to run to Longfei Bridge to take a long shot of the suspension bridge.

Here, my suggestion is: if you queue to go down the silver stairs, you can wait in line for about 1-2 hours. If the queue is outside the silver staircase, give up, look at the map, and go around the exception end of the drawbridge. The walk is estimated to take 1.5 hours.

Because we wasted time queuing up, we had to take a photo from far away and go back. In fact, if we had enough time, we could have a lot of fun at Village Rangers. There are hot springs, foot baths, dessert shops, etc. That day, we bought a pastry with the characteristics of Muryukyo near the station, which was actually fried rice cake.

After returning to the hotel, we went to a roasted bird restaurant that a classmate longed for and bought oden and grilled skewers. very good!

7Day7 Beijing-Hong Kong Shopping

We wanted to go, but girl, you know, we didn’t buy enough, so we bought it at buybuy. So this day has nothing to offer. You can take a look at the shopping guides from the past two days. On this day, I seemed to have a buffet lunch on the 7th floor of PARCO upstairs. It cost 1,500 per person, which was a lot of money. There are quite a few things that you can try.

Day 8: Shizuoka-Shanghai

The last day is here. After checking out, we went to the legendary No. 1 Matcha, which is located on a small road near Isetan. This branch in Tokyo has long queues every day. Fortunately, there are relatively few tourists in Shizuoka. We arrived at 11 a.m., and there were already many Japanese couples and girls queuing up. It seems to be a popular local ice cream shop as well.

The matcha in this store ranges from 1 to 7 degrees, with 7 degrees being the most bitter. 3% is the best combination of sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy matcha, and it has a very rewarding taste. We ordered 4% matcha black tea, which cost 440 yen per cup. It's really, really delicious. Both flavors are delicious! The store also sells matcha, green tea, black tea, chocolate, daifuku, etc. We also bought a lot to take home.
