Hubei Open Vocational College is an ordinary higher vocational college renamed and restructured from the former Hubei Correspondence University. Its predecessor, Hubei Correspondence University, was established on10.9 with the approval of Hubei Education Department's Hubei Education Workers and Peasants [( 1984) 0 16]. 1988 March 10 was approved by the former State Education Commission [(86) Canon No.045] for the record. On May 10, 2002, Hubei Provincial People's Government approved Hubei Correspondence University to be renamed Hubei Open Vocational College, which is a private university. Full-time colleges and universities with higher education enrollment qualifications.

The college focuses on full-time junior college education and has formed a talent training system including general higher education, adult higher education, continuing education and Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools. The school consists of nine secondary colleges, including humanities college, modern management college, finance and economics college, photoelectric information college, electromechanical college, software and service outsourcing engineering college, industrial design college, art college and continuing education college, offering about 30 majors in six categories: science, engineering, literature, economics, management and foreign studies. Art design, mold design and manufacturing, communication technology, logistics management, accounting, e-commerce, and tourism hotel management are listed as pilot majors in school education reform.
