A-Ma Fort (also known as Santiago Fort) , located at the western end of Sai Wan) was built on a historic castle with a history of more than 350 years. The Macau government built forts before 1622 AD to defend the waterway at the entrance to Macau. At that time, the area of ??the fort was 150 steps vertically and 55 steps horizontally. It was about 30 feet away from the sea and was suitable for gun battles. Inside the castle, there is a small Catholic church called St. James's Chapel. There are exquisite statues of St. James and tile images of Mother Fatima and Queen Isabella in the church.

In 1981, the castle was converted into the Santiago Hotel, but it still maintained its original features. Cultural relics such as city walls, tunnels, and churches were combined with Portuguese-style design. The hotel is divided into four floors. Between the buildings on each floor, paths and corridors are connected. The white exterior walls and red roofs stand out among the green mountains.
