Luxun Hometown

Lu Xun's hometown, located in Luxun Middle Road, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, is a historical block with unique Jiangnan style. It is a real place for you to interpret Lu Xun's works, taste the scenery of Lu Xun's works and feel the life situation of Lu Xun in that year. On both sides of a narrow Qingshi Road, there are rows of whitewashed tiles, bamboo building doors, Lu Xun's ancestral home (Laotaimen, Zhou Jia), Lu Xun's former residence (Zhoujia Xintaimen), Baicao Garden, Santan Yinyue, Shoujiataimen, Tugu Temple, Lu Xun's amorous feelings garden and Xianheng Hotel. A small river flows in front of Lu Xun's former residence, and the awning boat is swaying on the river. This scene cannot but remind people. After careful protection and restoration, Lu Xun's hometown has become a place to interpret Lu Xun, a great modern writer in China, and a "treasure of the town hall" in Shaoxing, Zhejiang.

Lu Xun's former residence was originally a part of Zhoujia Xintaimen, where Lu Xun lived, studied and worked as a teenager. 188 1 On September 25th, Lu Xun was born here. Lu Xun spent more than one third of his life in his hometown. After the new platform door changed hands in 198 1 year, most houses were rebuilt, but the main building of Lu Xun's house was fortunately preserved. Now the interior is displayed as it is, and many furniture are original.

Baicao Garden is behind Lu Xun's former residence, covering an area of nearly 2,000 square meters. This used to be the vegetable garden of more than a dozen families named Zhou in Xintaimen. Usually, some melons and vegetables are planted in autumn to dry the grain. This is the paradise of Lu Xun's childhood. He often comes to play, tastes purple mulberries and sweet and sour raspberries, catches crickets and weeds in low mud walls, enjoys the cool in the garden in summer and catches birds in the snow in winter. These interesting childhood stories left a deep and beautiful impression on Lu Xun's heart, which still aroused his cordial nostalgia in his later years. After the property rights of Baicao Garden and Zhoujiaxintaimen changed hands, the north and south ends of the garden changed their appearance, but the main parts remained basically unchanged.

San Tan Yin Yue is a famous private school in Shaoxing in the late Qing Dynasty. Lu Xun studied here from 12 to 17. Lu Xun's seat, in the northeast corner of the study, is a hardwood desk used by Lu Xun. Once Lu Xun was criticized by his teacher for being late for some reason, so he carved the word "early" in the upper right corner of his desk to encourage himself. Shou, the teacher of the school, is a square, simple and knowledgeable person. His spirit of being a man and studying left an unforgettable impression on Lu Xun. San Tan Ying Yue is a small living room with three bays, which was originally the study of Shou family. Shou has been teaching here for 60 years, and the architectural structure, indoor furnishings and surrounding environment have basically maintained the original appearance of that year. There is a small garden with two osmanthus trees and a wintersweet tree after the moon is printed in Santan.

Xianheng Hotel is located on Luxun Road in the center of Qiu Guan, facing south. On the east side of the hotel, a four-poster tower stands. The tower is two meters high, with tiles on the top and eaves under it, and there is a big word "wine" hanging outside the eaves. Four pillars are like bamboo, and the tower is hollow. There is a black background facing west, and the words "Xianheng Hotel" are written in gold. The layout of the store is shown in Lu Xun's novel Kong Yiji. So in the old wine tunnel, the taste of "wine blank" (appetizer) is very pure. In my spare time, it is very pleasant to drink here alone or chat with my friends for three or two drinks. Xianheng Hotel is also called Shaoxing Wine Custom Museum.

Lu Xun's ancestral home on the east side of the exhibition hall of the newly-built Lu Xun Memorial Hall is Lu Xun's ancestral home-Zhoujia Laotaimen, which faces south, faces the East Changfangkou in front, then connects the Xianhuan River, connects Daijiataimen in the west, and the three pools reflect the moon across the river. Laotaimen, covering an area of 3,087 square meters, is a typical feudal scholar-bureaucrat residence with blue tiles and white walls and brick-wood structure.

Luxun Style Garden is located in the northwest of Shaoxing Luxun Memorial Hall, with a Zhujiataimen, also known as "Old Pan Lu", which is connected to Zhoujiataimen in the west, Zhoujiataimen in the east and Xianhuan River in the north. Zhujiataimen is the most complete and typical garden terrace building in Shaoxing, an ancient city with elegant environment and rich historical sites. The owner of Zhujiataimen is Zhu Langxian, that is, the "descendant of Zhu Wengong" who bought a new platform door next week. Zhujiataimen was originally the former site of Wanghua Palace, which was a part of the official residence of Hu Dahai, a famous soldier in the early Ming Dynasty.

Baicao Garden is located behind Lu Xun's former residence in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, with Xianhuan River in the north, Shenzhai in the east and Liangjia backyard in the west. Covering an area of nearly 2,000 square meters, it was originally owned by two families, Zhiren and Renren, in Zhoujia Xintaimen. The west half belongs to the wisdom room and the east half belongs to the benevolence room. Every family in this garden grows some fruits and vegetables, and some plots are also used as threshing floors after autumn, but because of the large grass and deep grass in the garden, it seems a bit desolate.

Although there are no obvious boundaries, there are also large gardens and small gardens. The small garden is in the north, covering a small area, protruding to the northwest corner, covering an area of about a quarter of that of the big garden. There is a gate leading to Xianhuan River in the east, and a river port is built along the river, where manure farmers can stop and carry away the grass ash and manure of Zhou family. The big garden is in the south, covering a large area. There are a pile of mud walls with a length of 44 meters and a height of about one meter in the west, which serve as the dividing line with Liangjiahou Garden in the west. At the southern end of the mud wall bordering the corner of Lu Xun's back door, there is a boundary pillar engraved with the word "Liang Jie". This boundary pillar and this pile of "low mud walls" called "infinite interest" by Lu Xun are still the same today.

This deserted garden is not only full of rubble and weeds, but also trees, vines, birds, insects and beasts, which is a good place for children to play. When Lu Xun was a child, he often came here to play with his friends, or picked purple mulberries and sweet and sour raspberries, or caught crickets, played with Mylabris, sometimes dug the roots of Polygonum multiflorum, and sometimes picked the fruits of Manglietia, enjoying the cool in the shade in summer, listening to cicadas in winter and catching birds in the snow. The plants and animals in the Herbal Garden can be seen, heard, played and eaten, which is really fun for children. Even now, "purple mulberry, sweet and sour raspberry, smooth stone well fence, tall acacia …" is hard to find, but the strong interest in life in this article still brings you rich imagination.

These interesting childhood stories in the small garden left a deep and beautiful impression on Lu Xun's heart, which still aroused his cordial nostalgia in his later years. When Lu Xun was teaching at Xiamen University, he wrote a famous essay "From Baicaoyuan to San Tan Yin Yue", which described his naive play and keen interest in Baicaoyuan in his childhood. His kind and touching lyrical brushwork and fond memories of the garden scenery have aroused people's interest in Baicao Garden.

Lu Xun first came into contact with the natural scenery in the Herbal Garden, which aroused his interest in observing and studying some plant books, flowers and trees with drawings. He planted more than 20 kinds of flowers and plants with flowerpots on the stone bars on the courtyard steps in front of the small hall of his former residence.

With the decline of Zhou Jia, the garden of East Shourenfang in Baicaoyuan was sold to Zhu Langxian in the east as early as 19 15, and the part of Xishouzhifang was also sold to Zhujiajian Island on 19 18 together with the property of Xintaimen. After Zhu Yuxian transformed the new platform door into "Luban", he expanded the backyard. In the small garden of Baicaoyuan, a rockery was built, and a fish pond and a flower hall were also built. After liberation, the state recovered the money from Zhang's later owner and opened it to the public as a part of Lu Xun Memorial Hall for the general audience to visit and rest. The main part of the Herbal Garden is basically the same as before.
