The Origin of Mianyang Wang Yue Architecture

Mianyang Wang Yue Building was personally supervised by Li Zhen of Wang Yue.

Li, King of Yue, was really the eighth son of Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty. He was outstanding in talent and was named Hanwang and Yue Wang successively. When Li Zhen was appointed as the secretariat of Mianzhou, Wang Yuelou was personally supervised by Li Zhen, referring to the construction plans of many palaces in Chang 'an and Luoyang, and then built according to the terrain of Guishan. The construction of Wang Yue Tower took three years and cost 500,000 yuan, with a height of 10 foot.

The architecture of Wang Yue in Tang Dynasty is very spectacular. First of all, I climbed 100 steps and entered the red high wall, which is the Yuewangfu, where Li Zhen handled government affairs, and was actually the official residence of Mianzhou at that time. Outside Yuewangfu, there is a big garden with flower stands on both sides and a pebble tunnel in the middle, which leads directly to Yuewangxia.

The building is 100 feet high, with a red roof at the top, a sculpture of a dragon and a tiger beast above, and a green glazed tile below. The railings, columns and walls around the building are all red and painted with gorgeous patterns, showing a magnificent royal scene.

Stepping on the stairs and climbing to the top floor, according to poetry, looking north at Jianmen, the seventy-two peaks are faintly visible; Looking west at Minshan Snow Mountain; In the southeast, Mianzhou has a panoramic view, especially the surging Fujiang River downstairs, with a water surface about 6 feet wide. Ships are like boats, and there are often large groups of Sha Ou and egrets flying around, which was a scenery in Mianzhou at that time.

After the building was completed, Li Zhen ordered people to clean up the remaining materials, moved to the Fujiang River in the southwest of the city, and used the remaining money to build a Wangjiang Building there.

Wangyuelou was rebuilt in the Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, and was destroyed in the early years of Qing Qianlong. Yuewangtai site has been preserved for more than 200 years.
