Slippers in five-star hotels must be washed in order to be clean.

Don't wear slippers in the hotel. Many items in hotels will be disinfected, but few slippers are really disinfected, even in five-star hotels. A slightly better hotel will have disposable slippers, but you can't wear them in the bathroom, so bring your own pair.
