The history and culture of Qingxi Ancient Town

Qingxi Ancient Town is an important pass on the ancient Yinping Road in my country. Since the Eastern Han Dynasty, it has been a place where the royal family and local forces have been fighting each other, and it has been a battleground for military strategists of all generations. Due to the important geographical location of Qingxi, successive dynasties sent generals to guard it, build ponds and corridors. In the fourth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1371), Zheng Qianhu Zhu Road was renovated into an earthen city and a brick city was built. In the tenth year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1653), General Huaiyuan Zhaoyi specially awarded the title of General Long Anying, and Bai Danzhong rebuilt the city. It took three years to complete the city. The wall is nine hundred feet in circumference. The surface of the wall is inlaid with stone strips and large bricks with glutinous rice mortar. The inner wall is made of rammed earth and stone. It is two feet high, one foot wide at the bottom, and connected by a moat one foot deep. The outer gate is equipped with a suspension bridge, and the east, west, and north gates are built respectively. There is a semi-garden-shaped outer city wall, called "Wengcheng", and the inner and outer city gates are all lined with stone arches. The inner city gate is not opposite to the outer city gate. The gate opens to the side and an arrow tower is built above it. On the inner city gate, there is a double-eaves tower four feet and five feet above the ground, which is guarded and looks out, showing the majestic appearance of the border. The city is shaped like a boot, so it is also called "Boot City". The city is divided into four main streets, southeast, northwest and Xiadong Street, Xianan Street, paved with stone slabs. At the intersection of the four streets in the city, there is a tall wooden drum tower, covering an area of ??18 feet, facing each other horizontally, and 4 feet and 5 feet high. It has two floors and one bottom, three-story cornices, glazed tube tiles, carved beams and painted buildings, and hanging plaques in all directions. In the west is "Yinping Ancient Road", in the north is "North Key", in the east is "Ziwei Gaozhao", and in the south is "Nanshan Juxiu". Each of the four streets has erected grave markers and plaques with inscriptions on it. The east street is "Ziwei Gaozhao", the west street is "the throat of Xishu", the north street is "Arctic Lianhui", and the south street is "distinguished people".

Qingxi Ancient Town has a long history, rich cultural heritage, and numerous historical and cultural monuments. "Looking to the west, the golden ox spirit, the east light, the white saddle, the high bridge, the folds of golden willows, the springs gushing with jade flowers, the cave entrance, the leaping fish, the tiger stone plate at the critical moment, the dawn at Daihu Lake, the snow on the ten thousand peaks is cold." This is Yuan Rucui, a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. A poem describing eight scenes of Qingxi. Specifically, it refers to eight landscapes including Shiniu Temple, Ma'anshan, Gaoqiao Temple, Yuhua Spring, Yudong Bianstone, Guanhu Stone, Daigo Pond, and Jiulong Bao.
