Introduction to the must-see attractions in Jiuhua Mountain

Today we will mainly talk about a few places that must be visited when visiting Jiuhua Mountain.

1. Jiuhua Mountain Moon (ròu) Body Treasure Hall

The Flesh Body Treasure Hall was originally called the Golden Ksitigarbha Pagoda, commonly known as "Lao Ye Ding", also known as the Moon Body Treasure Hall. It is said that Jin Ksitigarbha used this to read scriptures in Nantai in his later years. Three years after his death, he still looked as alive as before, which was a sign of the Bodhisattva's coming to the world. Therefore, a three-story stone pagoda was built here to bury his physical body, which is the body pagoda, also known as Ksitigarbha. grave. Because "round light" once appeared in the place of Jita, later generations named the place Shenguang Ridge. The Temple of the Flesh Body is located at the head of Shenguang Ridge. In 1983, it was designated by the State Council as a national key Buddhist temple in the Han area. There is a Moon Body Pagoda built in the temple to protect the country. It is said that the Moon Body of Ksitigarbha is enshrined in this pagoda. Do not visit it on the morning of the 30th day of the seventh lunar month every year, because tens of thousands of people gather around a temple to guard the pagoda. The road is right under your feet, but you can't even find a place to step on it. You don't want to step on someone else's hand, right? As for the date on which the 30th day of the seventh lunar month falls every year, if you don’t know and are interested, you might as well look it up on Baidu.

2. Jiuhuashan Huacheng Temple

Huacheng Temple is the founding ancestral temple of Jiuhuashan. It has the longest history and is the dojo of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. It is the "general jungle" of Jiuhua. It was first built in the Tang Dynasty. In the early years of the Tang Dynasty (AD 756), the local squire invited the Silla monk Jin Qiaojue to move in. In the tenth year of Zhenyuan (AD 794), after Jin Qiaojue passed away at the age of 99, the monks regarded it as the incarnation of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. , Huacheng Temple was turned into Ksitigarbha's dojo. In the fifth year of Long'an in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (401), monk Bei Du built a nunnery here. It is a national key temple, known as the "museum" of Jiuhua history and culture, also known as Dizang Temple. It is located at the central city peak of the Jiuhua Street Basin, bordering Dongya to the east, Furong Peak to the south, Shenguang Ridge to the west, and leaning on the north. Baiyun Mountain is surrounded by four mountains like a city. In ancient times, there was a legend that "Buddha's finger turned into a temple", so it was called Huacheng Temple. Many tourists choose Huacheng Temple as the first attraction they visit in Jiuhua Mountain, and the tour time basically lasts about 40 minutes. There are "Release Pond" and "Empress Pagoda" in front of the temple. I won't introduce much here, but those who are interested can learn more about them.

3. Tiantai Temple

Tiantai Temple in Mount Jiuhua, also known as Ksitigarbha Temple and Ksitigarbha Zen Forest, is also a key temple in the country. It is located between Tiantai Peak and Yuping Peak. It was first built in the Song Dynasty and later destroyed. The original appearance of the main hall is still well preserved. The upper floor is the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas, the middle floor is the Ksitigarbha Hall, and the lower floor is the basement. The roll-arched stone cave gate remains the same. Behind the main hall, there are wing rooms on the east and west sides; there is a small courtyard in the middle; and the Guanyin Hall is built on the north. There are many scenic spots around Tiantai Temple: there is a hexagonal stone pavilion on the green dragon head in the south of the temple, 3 meters high, named "Holding the Sun Pavilion". There are stone Buddha statues in the pavilion. There is a rooftop next to the pavilion, surrounded by cliffs and iron pillars. Note that the rooftop is located on a high ground and is cold in winter. It is recommended to take the ropeway and avoid cold wind blowing for a long time. The editor himself had a high fever for several days after he came back because he spent a long time with his friends on the rooftop having a shower. In addition, the "Ksitigarbha Cave" where Jin Jizo once stayed during his spiritual practice is nearby! It’s left to everyone to explore.

In fact, there are many places to visit in Jiuhua Mountain both on the mountain and at the foot of the mountain. It can be said that they are too numerous to mention. Everyone needs to explore them in depth. Don’t just look at them. A scenic spot with cultural heritage cannot be ignored. If you explore it carefully, it will definitely be difficult to understand. Finally, the above-mentioned temples are not open yet, and they are not open during May Day, but you can enjoy the scenery. If tourists in Anhui Province have plenty of time, they can visit the Jiuhuashan Dayuan Cultural Park Scenic Area and Flower Terrace, which is also a good choice.
