Extended information:

Ziwuling was called "Qiaoshan" before the Tang Dynasty. In modern times, there are still data to call Qiaoshan Mountains, which is the "Ziwuling" in a broad sense, including Hengling, Mountains such as Xieliang, Laoye Ridge, Qinglong Mountain, and Ziwu Ridge (in a narrow sense). It spans Shaanxi and Gansu provinces and is in the hinterland of the Loess Plateau. The old Ziwu Ridge, or Ziwu Ridge in a narrow sense, refers to the oblique beam in modern geography. From Wutingzi in Heshui County to Liujiadian in Zhengning County, the mountains run north-south. The ancients called the north "Zi" and the south "Wu", so they called this section of the mountain range Ziwu Ridge. Later it was expanded to the name of the entire Qiaoshan Mountain Range.

The mountain extends along the north-northwest-south-east direction, forming the watershed between the Luo River and the Jing River. It is connected to the western section of Laoshan Mountain in the north, facing Baiyu Mountain and Laoshan Mountain in the northeast, and connected to the Weibei Plateau in the south. Its northern part extends from north of Huachi, Gansu in a northwest to south-south direction to the south of Zhuquling Mountain in Huangling. It has nearly two branches, east and west, extending into the source of Luo River and Jing River, and forming the watershed of the two major river systems, Jing and Luo. It extends southward and divides into two branches near Jiaoping. One branch extends to the southeast to Yijun, Tongchuan, and Yaoxian, and is called Yijunliang; the other branch extends to the southwest, and its southern end is the highest point of Ziwu Ridge, Xunyi Shimen Mountain (1,885 meters above sea level).
