My Colorful Hainan Trip (3) Visiting the Crater Park

After feeling the joy of flying and experiencing the fun of catching crabs, we chose to leave for the second day of the trip. The Shishan Volcanic Group National Geopark is about 15 kilometers away from the center of Haikou. Before setting off, we had a general understanding of the Crater Park: Shishan Volcanic Group National Geopark is located in Yongxing Town, Shishan, southwest of Haikou City, with an area of ??108 square kilometers. The park has more than 40 Quaternary volcanoes with diverse types, rich lava landscapes, and unique lava tunnels. It is a rare volcanic wonder. Here, thousands of years of volcanoes, thousands of years of volcanic stone culture and tropical ecological vegetation communities are integrated to form a geopark with tropical urban volcanic ecology and cultural connotations! Having said all that, it’s time to take everyone to the Crater Park to have a look. Now please turn your attention to the Crater Park on January 31st...

After buying tickets at the ticket office, we arrived at the park gate. I looked towards the park and saw a large number of beautiful and exquisite wood carvings waving to me! They have different shapes and are lifelike. In my opinion, all of them can be called national treasure-level cultural relics! "Wow!" I couldn't help but exclaimed when I saw a beautiful wooden sculpture in front of me. I ran forward and observed the wood carving carefully. It seemed to be carved from a whole tree. The carving was not very fine and even a little rough, but it looked so exquisite. This wood carving looks like a chair. The top back of the chair does not have any major modifications. Instead, some branches are allowed to stretch freely, like a peacock spreading its tail! The most valuable part is that the branches above are like A parasol, stretched out long, can protect the person sitting on the chair from the sun and heat. The whole chair is very ordinary, without any gorgeousness, but it makes people admire and admire it! There are many flowers and plants near the wood carvings, among which the three-leafed plum appears most often. People regard it as a symbol of respecting guests and often place it in front of hotels or tourist attractions. There is another plant that is also very famous in Hainan, and that is the wine bottle coconut. The small wine bottle coconut is chubby and cute. When I held it and took pictures, I could smell the aroma of wine on it!

We continued to walk forward, and just a few steps away we saw a mighty lion (root carving) squatting on the roadside and looking back. Its eyes were full of joy and confidence. How happy it is to live in this flower-like world! There is a large stone standing in the middle of the road. This is the treasure of the park! Don't underestimate this stone, it is very different from ordinary stones. Standing near this stone, you can easily find that there are many small holes on this stone. The shapes of these small holes are different, some are long and thin, and some are oval. What do you think this stone is? What? Forget it, let me tell you, this is a mark left by a volcanic eruption. This stone is the legendary volcanic rock. It is not an ordinary stone. People call it basalt because it is formed during the volcanic eruption of magma and the flow of lava. Formed under specific conditions, it has various shapes and mysterious textures, so it is highly ornamental. People have made golden toads, dolphins, and stone lions through processing and embellishment... but they look so lifelike to us. In fact, I would say that nature is the best craftsman!

I also forgot to tell you that even the tree-lined roads in the park are paved with lava flows left when the volcano erupted. According to the tour guide, the elderly people nearby often walk on them. Exercise and have a good massage function! Continue walking along the tree-lined path, and after a while, an antique gate will be in front of you.

This gate is entirely made of volcanic rocks and is covered with ivy. The branches and leaves of the ivy hang down like a door curtain, adding a bit of mystery and haziness to the scenery behind! If you look closely, you will find two bright red characters carved on the volcanic rock: Shimen! When you walk into Shimen, the first thing you see is a dragon spring. Why is it called dragon spring? That's because the spring is shaped like a giant dragon. The giant dragon is lying on the ground, and clear spring water is constantly flowing out of its mouth. This spring water is not ordinary. It is a natural spring water rich in minerals that flows out from thousands of meters underground of the volcano! I couldn't help but walked up and took some with my hands, wanting to have a taste. This taste is amazing, the spring water is sweet and delicious, and you feel refreshed when you hold it in your mouth. It is really good water! In front of Longquan is a small farmyard. This small courtyard is the house where people lived when they lived near the volcano. It is warm in winter and cool in summer, and the roof is equipped with lighting facilities. This shows how smart the people at that time were!

Basalt Me and Toad

Is it weird that the title is "Me and Toad"? But "being named on the gold list and winning the title in the Toad Palace" is my unchanging dream.

The next step was to climb the mountain. Unknowingly, we arrived at the commanding heights of Haikou. : 222.8 meters. There is nothing better than overlooking Haikou City from here: the high-rise buildings in the distance stand like mirages in the mist, and the green mountains and plains make people feel relaxed and happy. Just one look at it will immediately turn your originally gray eyes to life. Get up, this is the power of nature! Looking down, this is the largest crater in the Crater Park. It is like a big bowl, and people inside are like steaming "dumplings." Looking into the distance again: the more than 40 large and small volcanic craters around it have long lost their appearance when they erupted. After more than 7,000 years of changes, it has long been dressed up as a "green forest fairy" by various flowers and plants. If I didn't tell you, These are volcanic craters. You must have thought that this is a natural world of flowers and plants! How powerful is the power of nature!
