What is the reason why the puppy suddenly falls to the ground and the whole body is stiff and twitching?

Maybe you have canine distemper.

About canine distemper: Canine distemper is a very dangerous canine disease with strong contact. The first symptoms of this disease infection are loss of appetite, secretions from eyes and nose, dry cough, and vomiting or diarrhea in sick dogs. In the later stage, sick dogs will have neurological symptoms, including shaking their heads, drooling, uncontrollable chewing movements and other symptoms, as well as cramps and epilepsy.

Canine distemper virus can also invade the skin of feet and nose, making the skin surface hard. Some sick dogs can recover in the first stage of canine distemper, others can't, but once the virus invades the brain tissue, the probability of recovery is very small. Canine distemper is a global disease, which is the most important disease and leads to the highest mortality rate of non-immunized dogs.

Canine distemper and canine distemper are infectious diseases that can directly lead to the death of puppies, especially puppies that have just bought back, and have incubation periods. The owner easily confuses canine distemper with common cold cough, which delays the best treatment time. Moreover, the probability of early canine distemper cure is many times higher than that of late canine distemper, so early diagnosis of canine distemper and minor diseases plays a decisive role in treatment, so the owner must not ignore all the conditions of puppies.

Canine distemper usually has an incubation period of 3 to 5 days. At first, it was like a common cold and cough, but there were red bloodshot eyes, many tears and tears, green stool mixed with cough, the meat pad on the soles of the feet began to harden and the heart beat faster, but it had no effect on appetite and spirit. Often a good appetite and good spirits will make the host numb, thinking that it is not a big problem. Pay attention to the careful use of anti-inflammatory drugs, berberine and cough syrup, and be timely.

Canine distemper mainly harms puppies. Its pathogen is canine distemper virus. The sick dog showed bipolar fever, rhinitis, severe digestive tract disorder and respiratory inflammation. Neurological symptoms often appear in the later stage of the disease. There are a lot of viruses in various secretions, excretions (nasal discharge, saliva, tears, pericardial fluid, pleural effusion, ascites, urine), blood, cerebrospinal fluid, lymph nodes, liver, spleen, spinal cord and other organs of sick dogs, which can be detoxified by respiratory secretions and urine. Healthy dogs are in direct contact with sick dogs or infected by polluted air or food through respiratory tract or digestive tract. Besides puppies, foxes and minks in fur animals are also very susceptible to canine distemper.

Key points of diagnosis: (1) Epidemic features: This disease mostly occurs in cold season, especially in units or areas where dogs are concentrated. Once a dog gets sick, it is difficult for other puppies to avoid infection unless they are in absolute isolation. Because suckling puppies can get antibodies from breast milk, they seldom get sick. Usually puppies from 3 months to 1 year are the most susceptible to infection.

(2) Clinical features: the body temperature is biphasic fever (that is, the body temperature rises to about 40℃ at the initial stage of the disease, drops to normal after 1 ~ 2 days, and rises again after 2 ~ 3 days); When the body temperature rises for the second time (a few cases die at this time), respiratory symptoms appear, the sick dog coughs and sneezes, and there is serous to purulent nasal discharge, and the nose mirror is dry; Eyelid swelling, suppurative conjunctivitis and corneal ulcer often occur in the later stage; There are erythema, edema and purulent papules on the skin of lower abdomen and inner thigh; Frequent vomiting; Constipation at first, diarrhea soon, foul feces, sometimes mixed with bloodshot and bubbles.

Because the disease is often mixed with canine infectious hepatitis and other diseases, and secondary bacterial infection, the symptoms are complex. Therefore, only the above symptoms can make a preliminary diagnosis, and finally the diseased materials (conjunctiva, bladder, stomach, lung, trachea, brain, serum) must be sent to the inspection unit for virus isolation, neutralization test and other specific inspections.
