On July 16, local time, Izuno City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan announced that a Ugandan weightlifter who was preparing for the Tokyo Olympics was missing. The person in charge also said that the athlete had lost the qualification to participate in the Olympic Games because of the decline in the world ranking during the preparation period, and originally planned to return to China with the coach.
According to Asahi TV 16, the missing player is Julius Sekitoreko, aged 20. His teammates saw him in the hotel that morning. However, because the contestant did not submit a sample of COVID-19's nucleic acid test, when the municipal government staff went to the hotel room to confirm with him at noon on June 16, they found that he had disappeared.
The staff of Quansano City said that Sekitoreko had lost the qualification to participate in the competition and originally planned to return home from Narita Airport with the coach. At present, the city government and the police in Izumisano are looking for his whereabouts.

According to Fuji News, on June 19, nine athletes from the Ugandan delegation arrived in Japan, but 1 was found to be infected with COVID-19 at the airport, and the remaining eight went to Quansano City, Osaka Prefecture for pre-match training.
However, on June 23rd, another 1 member of the delegation was diagnosed with COVID-19 virus, so the rest of the members were taken to the hotel for isolation that day. After that, the Ugandan delegation resumed training on July 7, and the isolation period of close contacts was over because it was confirmed that two people in COVID-19 had reached the discharge standard.
