Architectural Style of fullerton Hotel

1998 to 2000, the restoration project of Fulton Mansion is one of the few architectural protection projects involving public facilities in the world. 6 1 Architects, together with consultants from the Democratic Party of Hong Kong, are engaged in the project of transforming it into a luxury hotel with 400 rooms. The designer of the hotel room is Hirsch Bedner Associates.

In the process of reconstruction, the most distinctive architectural style of this historic building has been preserved and restored. URA is responsible for coordinating the protection work and has the right to require the new owner of the building to comply with certain regulations. Some features of the original building must be faithfully restored. These include the underground gallery of the General Post Office and the billiard room of Dorian Zhuhe Strait Club. The post office gallery no longer exists, but it has been subdivided into a bar, restaurant and hotel lobby. The billiards room of the Channel Club has been preserved, although there is no previous wooden paneling. As one of the historic buildings of Fulton Tower, Fulton Lighthouse is mainly used to guide ships arriving in Hong Kong. Fullerton Lighthouse is located at the top of fullerton Tower. It is a rotating lighthouse with an illumination of 540 Candeira and a visual range of 29 kilometers (about 15.7 nautical miles). It was installed at 1958 to replace the demolished Fort Cunningham lighthouse.

While protecting the exterior wall of the building, the architects successfully transformed the interior of the building into a five-star hotel. The fourth floor of the hotel was the place where the former British governor negotiated with the British military to surrender to Japan during World War II, and was later transformed into a unique lounge. Above the room is a lattice ceiling in the shape of a bucket arch, which is unique in indoor architecture in Singapore. Before the advent of air conditioning, the fullerton Building was naturally ventilated through ventilation shafts and other building installations, which is the largest and last example of such buildings in Singapore. With the popularity of air conditioning, air wells have been abandoned. Fullerton Hotel is now two parallel rooms, which surround the central triangular atrium of the hotel. A row of high-rise buildings facing Singapore Harbour and Central Business District, while the back room can see the central courtyard of the building. The internal building work is mainly to strengthen beams and columns, while the external building is to transform and reshape the appearance mode. Although the research before the renovation shows that most of the raft foundations are still in good condition, the water from the adjacent Singapore River has gradually infiltrated into some foundation piles and flooded some parts of the old basement. So a new precast concrete platform was built on the foundation pile, and waterproof facilities were added. Now pile-type column buildings are placed on the platform. The engineering team installed five drainage pumps to cope with the slow infiltration of river water. Because the building is located on a rock foundation, there is no need for additional piling.
