Potala Palace tickets must be reserved one day in advance by the person holding his or her ID card at the ticket office at the west gate of the Potala Palace. There is no charge to book a ticket. The next day, go to the entrance (East Gate of Potala Palace) to enter the Potala Palace with your ticket booking coupon, and exchange for the official Potala Palace ticket halfway up the mountain.

Ticket office opening hours: 9:00 am to before 4:00 pm. The number of tickets per day is limited, so it is recommended that you book in advance.
