The 6S on-site management model has been proven in practice to be an advanced and practical on-site management system method. "Norms" are management activities beyond the basic actions described above. The good condition of the work site needs to be maintained at all times. From the perspective of management methods, if you want to maintain good practices and implement them for a long time, you should summarize the relevant methods and requirements. It is necessary to summarize good methods and requirements, form a management system, implement them in the long term, and constantly check and improve. Some popular Chinese formulations refer to this element as "cleanliness". However, in terms of meaning explanation, many contents that cannot be summarized literally are added. This is really far-fetched in Chinese expression. This is related to the way of vocabulary translation. Based on various 5S materials, especially the summaries in recent years, "standard" is a more appropriate and widely used summary.

“Literacy” is the most unique element and the essence of 6S.

The first five elements are all very distinct "action elements". One to four of them are on-site improvement actions. The fifth element elevates on-site improvement to the systemic and institutional level, while the sixth element further rises to the human level. This is the fundamental consciousness. For people, the system is external and mandatory. A more thorough guarantee is to transform external requirements into employees' proactive and heartfelt actions.
