Lin (19 18-200 1), formerly known as Lin, was born in Osaka, Japan, from Toufen Town, Miaoli County, Taiwan, and her ancestral home was Jiaoling, Guangdong Province.

Lin returned to Taiwan Province Province with his parents on 192 1. 1923 moved to Beijing with his parents and settled in the south of the city. 1948 returned to Taiwan Province Province to start literary creation. He used to be a reporter and editor of World Journal and presided over the supplement of United Daily News 10. He wrote many novels and short stories in his life.

1994 Lin was awarded the "Honorary Award for Senior Chinese Writers" by the World Chinese Writers Association and the Asian Chinese Writers Literature and Art Foundation, and 1998 was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award" by the World Chinese Writers Congress.

His autobiographical novel Old Stories in the South of the City 1999 won the second May 4th Prize "Literary Contribution Award" and the German version won the Swiss "Blue Cobra Award".

The Pure Literature Publishing House she founded (1968- 1995) is the first professional literature publishing house in China, which has published many famous books.

Lin's father Lin is from Toufen Town, Miaoli County, Taiwan, and his ancestral home is Jiaoling, Guangdong Province. Mother Huang Lin Aizhen is from Banqiao, Taiwan Province. Lin is the eldest daughter of the family, with two sisters Xiuying, three sisters Yanzhu, a younger brother, four sisters, five sisters and a younger brother Yao. His father, Mr. Lin, died in Beijing in May of 193 1 at the age of 44. 1932, his fourth sister Yan Ying (6 years old) died, and his younger brother Yan Zhang (3 years old) also died.

During his stay in Beijing, Lin met Xia, editor and lifelong companion of World Journal. They got married in the auditorium of Peking Union Medical College Hospital on May 1939, which was a major cultural event in Peiping at that time.
