Dali ancient city is an ancient city. The history of the ancient city can be traced back to the Tianbao period of the Tang Dynasty. At that time, Yangmaocheng, built by Luo Feng of Nanzhao Wang Ge, was the new capital of Nanzhao. By the end of Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty, two local governments, Nanzhao and Dali Kingdom, had been established in Dali, and the ancient city had been the political, economic and cultural center of Yunnan for more than 500 years.

I went to Dali in March this year and spent a day in the ancient city. On the same day, after arriving in Dali by plane for Chongqing, I first found an inn near the east gate of Erhaimen, an ancient city, and settled down. Seeing that the weather was not bad, I went for a walk in the ancient city. Or go into the ancient city along the Erhai Gate until you come to the main entrance of the ancient city. It happened to be a weekend, and the ancient city was bustling and crowded, so I had no idea and took a photo casually. Let's take a look at Erhai Gate. It is said that it used to be close to Erhai Lake. Later, with the changes of topography and water resources, the area of Erhai Lake has been shrinking, and the Erhai Gate is getting farther and farther away from Erhai Lake.

This road is called Renmin Road. Go straight ahead and you will find a crossroads. Go ahead and you will find Cangshanmen, the west gate of the ancient city. Go south and you will find the south gate of the main entrance of the ancient city. After arriving here, we didn't go to Cangshanmen, but went directly to the main entrance of the ancient city. There is a "Wuhua Building" on Renmin Road, which used to be the state guesthouse of Nanzhao King. Later, Dali was conquered and stationed in front of the building. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, Wuhua Pagoda was burned down in the war. When rebuilding Dali ancient city in Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty, a new bell and drum tower was built on the former site of Wuhua Building. Although the name remains unchanged, its scale and pattern are far less than those of Wuhua Pagoda in Nanzhao period.

Walking through Wuhua Building, I saw a Dali Museum not far away. It looked very old, so I went in and took a walk. It used to be the "Yunnan Mansion Hall" and later became the "Presidential Marshal" of the peasant uprising army in Du Wenxiu. 1986, the local government transformed it into "Dali Museum", which is a collection of cultural relics in Dali.

Not far from the museum, Chengnanmen is the first of the four gates in the ancient city. There is a Chengnan Building at the gate of Chengnan City, which was built in the 15th year of Ming Hongwu (1382). It is the oldest magnificent building in the ancient city and the symbol of Dali ancient city. The four sides of the ancient city wall are about 1500m long, 6m high and 12m thick. The word "Dali" on the city gate was personally mentioned by Guo Moruo when he visited Dali in 196 1.
