Shangluowen Bifeng Scenic Area and its historical legends

For tourists, the scenic spot itself is worth watching. However, in addition to the characteristics of the scenic spot itself, the historical legends about the scenic spot will also add a bit of mystery to the scenic spot, making tourists more interested in going. Next, let’s go to Shangluo Culture to take a look at Wenbi Peak’s attractions and its historical legends.

Wenbi Peak Attractions:

The main peak of Wenbi Peak is 1,650 kilometers above sea level, with towering ancient trees and evergreens all year round. Looking far into the distance, you can see the undulating mountains and the shrouded clouds and mist, giving you a panoramic view of Shangnan and the beautiful scenery at the junction of the three provinces of Shaanxi, Henan and Hubei. The existing 207 base on the summit was built in the early 1960s by the Communications Engineering Corps and is a communications transfer station between Beijing and Guangzhou. After satellite communications were replaced, the communications troops withdrew from the base, and abandoned towers and barracks remain.

The 9.8-kilometer winding mountain road winds up and twists and turns. Taking advantage of the unique geographical conditions, the planned 207 base will become a unique Yunhai boutique hotel, a comprehensive resort hotel integrating leisure and wellness, business meetings, vacation and entertainment.

The mountain caves are unique. Halfway up the mountainside of Wenbi Peak, there are many caves such as Chaoyang Cave, Niangniang Cave, Lion Cave, Pigeon Cave, Eagle Cave, Tianyan Cave, Feng Cave, and Xin Cave, which have typical karst landform characteristics. Some cave entrances are so narrow and unfathomable.

According to legend, brave people once entered the cave many times, preparing dry food, lights, ropes, swords, etc. and walked together. However, they ended up with no results due to the strange and dangerous cave in the cave. Someone once dropped two white geese into the deep pool in the cave to find out what was going on. A few days later, the white geese actually swam in the Danjiang River.

There are many caves, the most unique one is Chaoyang Cave. "Shangzhou Chronicles" records: "There is a cave in the east half of the mountain to the south of Bifeng. It is unfathomably deep. Outside the cave, there are ancient trees, just like the blue sky in Zhongnan. The rising sun shines directly at the entrance of the cave, so it is named Chaoyang Cave. It also looks like a lion, so it is commonly known as 'Lion.' "There is an ancient temple in the mouth which is extremely quiet." When Yang Zaifu, who was in charge of the army, entered Shaanxi, he wrote: "There is no need to reach the top when you reach this point. You already know that you are close to the edge of five clouds."

The cave enshrines the statue of Guanyin giving birth to a child. On every first and fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year and temple festivals, many believers, good women, gentry and villagers from eight counties in three provinces come to pray for their children, draw lots to make wishes, and go sightseeing. Continuously. Inside it is a masterpiece of heaven and earth, uncanny workmanship, various forms, and endless fantasy.

The historical legend of Wenbifeng:

It has profound historical accumulation and colorful folk culture.

Shao Yong (also known as Yaofu), a great scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty, founded Qingshan Academy at the foot of the mountain to teach Buddhism and Buddhism. Students from three provinces and eight counties came in droves. The Hou Academy was destroyed by the war, and only the Yaofu willow planted by Shao's son remained. In the twelfth year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty, the county magistrate Hu Dahua founded Qingshan Academy next to the Yaofu willow, creating a modern Shangnan education career. The existing Yaofu willow tree is eight meters wide and can be hugged by five or six people. The trees are like canopies, providing shade for more than an acre, and are regarded as "sacred trees" by the locals. Qingshan Ancient Street to the east of the academy site better retains the Huizhou architectural style left over from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Shiguan Gorge is located southeast of Yushu Valley in Yuejin Village in the valley south of Bijia Mountain in the scenic area. It is known as the "Little Golden Silk Gorge". It is said that two giant "water standing stones" stood up due to the impact of the river, forming a natural and complete stone gate, so it was called "Shiguan".

The canyon has huge boulders and strange rocks of different shapes; the mountain springs are clear, the creeks gurgling, and the lush forests and bamboos make it an ideal natural bathing place. There are lush trees among the natural cliffs, lush flowers and grass in the mountains, and many small waterfalls formed by water flowing along the terrain. The largest and longest one has a drop of 70 meters, with water splashing wildly. The empty valleys, secluded mountains and silent gorges make it a paradise to cleanse the lungs and nourish the heart.

The iron trees in Madhidian are all over the mountain, and the largest one is six meters wide in diameter. Legend has it that it has a history of thousands of years. It grows among the cracks in the rocks, absorbs the essence of heaven and earth, and looks up at the mountains. It is comparable to the stone trees in Jinsi Gorge. Next to it is a willow tree that is hundreds of years old. It has lush branches and leaves and is called the "God of Wealth Tree" by the locals.
