Dali history

During the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Zhang Qian sent a mission to the Western Regions, which stimulated Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty to explore the "Shu Shen Du Road" from the southwest to India and run the southwest frontier. 109 years ago (the second year of Han Yuanfeng), Yuye County was located in Dali, which was the earliest place where the Central Plains Dynasty set up a county in Yunnan. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, it belonged to Yongchang County in south-central China.

During the Three Kingdoms period, Dali surrendered to Zhuge Liang's Southern Expedition Army and established Shu Han Yunnan County. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, it belonged to Heyang County and Xihe County successively. At that time, the Bai nationality had taken shape, and many cities were built by Erhai Lake.

In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, there were six tribes around Erhai Lake, called Liu Zhao. In Tang Gaozong, five imperial edicts except Mengshe were conquered by Tubo. In 737 (the 26th year of Tang Kaiyuan), Pirog, the leader of Mengshe imperial edict, merged five imperial edicts to establish Nanzhao Kingdom, moved the capital from Mengshe (now Weishan) to Taihe City (now Taihe Village), and continued to conquer the surrounding areas on this basis, controlling most of Yunnan today.

In 902 (two years after Tang Zhaozong), Zheng Maisi, the powerful minister of Nanzhao, seized power and established "Dachang and Guoguo". In 927, Yang Ganzhen supported Zhao Shanzheng to establish "rejuvenating the country through heaven", and later became king on his own, building "the country is not as good as righteousness".

In 937 (the second year of Tianfu in the Jin Dynasty), Duan Siping also established its capital, Yang Mao, with the title of Dali. Duan claimed to be a descendant of the Han people. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he vigorously promoted Chinese culture and sent envoys to trade with the Southern Song Dynasty.

After 3 16 years, Dali was destroyed by Kublai Khan in 1253. 1274, in order to facilitate the rule, the Yuan Dynasty established Yunnan Province in Chicheng (also known as Zhongqing Road, now Kunming), and at the same time established Dali Road and Taihe County, which were subordinate to Yunnan Province. Since then, the central city of Yunnan has been transferred from Dali to Kunming.

1382, the Ming army captured Dali, and Dali Road was changed to Dali House, which still ruled Taihe County and built a new Fucheng, now the ancient city of Dali. 1659, the Qing army invaded Yunnan. The Qing dynasty followed the system of the Ming dynasty. 1856 (the sixth year of Xianfeng in Qing dynasty), Du Wenxiu established the Hui regime and controlled most of Yunnan.

After the founding of the Republic of China, Dali Prefecture was revoked and Taihe County was renamed Dali County. 1950, Shimonoseki separated, 1983, Shimonoseki merged with Dali county to establish county-level Dali city. At present, it is the state capital of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, and about two-thirds of the city's population is Bai.
