When is the best time to go to Mount Putuo? Is it okay to live in a temple?

I went there in mid-August 2012 and entered the island from Zhujiajian. Provide some information.

1. The high-speed boat from Zhujiajian Pier to Putuo Mountain leaves every 10 minutes during the day. The cost is 24 yuan/person, and the ordinary passenger ship is 22 yuan/person. The night ferry fee is 28 yuan per person plus 2 yuan insurance. There is one night flight at 18:30, 19:30, 20:30 and 21:50. Enter the ticket hall as soon as you get off the boat, and you can only enter the island after checking the ticket. Tickets for Putuo Mountain are divided into off-season and peak season, January and December are off-season, 140 yuan; February to November, 160 yuan; first to fifth day of the first lunar month, May 1st to 3rd, October 1st to 5th, 200 yuan Yuan. Children 1.2M and under or 6 years old and under are free of charge. Half ticket for teenagers aged 1.5M and below or 18 years and below. Tickets are half-priced with student ID cards, and teachers seem to be free of charge on Teachers' Day.

2. The three must-visit temples in Mount Putuo are Puji Temple, Fayu Temple and Huiji Temple, which are at the bottom of the mountain, halfway up the mountain and near the top of the mountain respectively. Tickets for all three temples are 5 yuan, breakfast is 5 yuan per person, and lunch and dinner are 10 yuan per person. The most economical way to eat on the island is to eat at the temple. Breakfast is ready for eight people, with 4 side dishes, and the staple food includes noodles and porridge, which can be added. For lunch and dinner, each person is given two bowls, one for rice and one for vermicelli soup (both vegetables and soup). However, please note that Huiji Temple on the top of the mountain is not open to the public for breakfast and dinner, and can only arrange lunch. The meals taste pretty good.

3. Luojia Mountain is opposite Putuo Island. The boat to Luojia Mountain leaves three times a day, 7:00, 8:00, and 13:00, and the sailing time is 30 minutes. Tickets are 64 yuan (including round-trip boat tickets). If you want to add an extra seat, it will cost 10 yuan. If you want to take photos, you can consider adding it, otherwise don’t waste it. If you are a student and don’t sincerely want to burn incense, I don’t think you have to go.

4. There are tourist buses connecting the scenic spots, and the fares are relatively high compared to the distance. Return to the pier from Luojia Mountain and take a bus to the cableway (near Fayu Temple) (there is no bus directly to Huiji Temple. If you don’t walk, you can only take a bus to the cableway and go up the mountain.) It takes about 20 minutes to drive. The fare 10 yuan. For students, hiking shouldn’t be a problem. We only took the bus on the last day to catch up with the trip. We walked from Puji Temple to Shancai Cave and so on. It was very pleasant to walk, haha.

5. By the way, the ropeway is 30 yuan for one way and 50 yuan for two ways.

6. Tickets for Nanhai Guanyin are 6 yuan.

7. Mount Putuo is a tourist island and prices are on the high side. Relatively speaking, there are more local people gathering in Longsha New Village and the prices are more affordable. However, it is best to find a supermarket near the new village. The prices are clearly marked and all are treated equally. Small shops will look at the people and the prices for outsiders will be higher.

8. The price of accommodation in Putuo Mountain varies according to the market. There are many people on weekends, and the price on weekends is twice as high as usual. The four of us chose the suite in Longsha New Village, with two bedrooms and one living room, and facilities. It's complete and relatively neat. It costs 700 yuan a day. When it comes to 600 yuan a day, we extended it for another night on Sunday and the price is 350 yuan. You can rent bicycles for free, send your luggage to the pier for free, or ask them for a map.

9. If you go to burn incense and worship Buddha, you must remember to prepare a lot of 1 yuan change, otherwise you will not be able to afford it. There are so many merit incense.

10. Drinking water is available at various scenic spots on the island, so it is best to bring a kettle with you to save money and taste good.

11. Knowledge about burning incense:

The Yuantong Hall of Puji Temple is the only Buddhist temple in the country that worships Guanyin with a male body, promising good health to the whole family.

In the Manjushri Bodhisattva Hall, make offerings to Manjushri Bodhisattva and make wishes for learning and wisdom.

In the Hall of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, you can make offerings to Samantabhadra Bodhisattva and wish for success in your career.

The Mahavira Hall offers offerings to Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, and Medicine Bodhisattva III, and wishes for peace for the whole family.

In the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Hall, make offerings to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, wishing your parents good health, and wishing the dead to be reborn early in life.

In the Pumen Hall, worship the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara and make personal wishes come true.

In the Galan Hall, make offerings to Galan Bodhisattva and make wishes for wealth.

This is a lot of rambling, I hope one or two will be useful to you, haha
