Macao's Five Districts on the Day of Macao's Reunification

The Macao Peninsula is divided into five regions:

Notre Dame Fatima parish

Located in the northern part of the peninsula, it has the largest area and the largest population. The area includes Green Island, Mount Tai, Racecourse, Black Sand Ring, Wang Xia, Chopsticks Base and other places. Most of the land has been reclaimed, and large-scale reclamation projects are still going on. American Assistant General Avenue is adjacent to San Antonio District and Wangdetang District in the south and Gongbei City in Zhuhai City in the north. This area used to be a suburb of Macao, which was dominated by agriculture and animal husbandry, and houses were also concentrated here. After the 1970s, with the rapid development of Macao's economy, the region has also rapidly developed into a new industrial zone. The main industries include textiles, clothing, plastics, toys, leather, electronics and electricity.

Saint Anthony parish

Located in the west of the peninsula, it is connected to Matang District of Huadi in the north, lobby area in the south, Wangdetang District in the east and Neigang in the west. It covers an area of 1. 1 km2 (accounting for 16.4% of the peninsula area), and its population is the highest in Australia, reaching 65,438+10,000 people per km2. Including Shagang, Xinqiao, Shali and other places, the famous St. Paul's archway, the big fort and the pigeon's nest park are all in this area. This area is the main commercial and residential area and traditional industrial area in Macao, but industrial land is mixed in commercial and residential areas. During the period of 1989, the industrial sites in this area accounted for 36% of Australia, second only to Vatti Hall, but the scale of enterprises was small and the technical equipment was relatively backward. The main industries are shipbuilding, machine building, food processing, textiles, clothing and so on. Located in the southwest section of the peninsula, surrounded by water on three sides and adjacent to the lobby area in the north. It covers an area of 0.9 square kilometers, with a population of 45,600 and a population density of 50,904 people per square kilometer. This area is one of the earliest developed areas in Macao. The new roads in the north and the streets in the south are part of the bustling business district connected with the lobby area. The east coast is the freight terminal belt, and the south section has the largest container terminal in Macao. Internally, as an old coast, Binjiang New Street used to be the main anchorage for fishing boats, so there are many fish bars, seafood, boats and fishing gear suppliers. Further down to Xia Huan Street, it is one of the earliest reclamation areas in Macau and an ancient mixed area of industry, commerce and residence. There are West yangshan and March Mountain in the south with beautiful scenery. There are many villas with different styles on the hillside, which are high-grade residential areas in Macao. The east coast is close to Nanwan and Xiwan, and the bank is Rongyin Avenue, which has always been a good place for tourists. Nanwan is carrying out a large-scale reclamation project around the lake. After completion, it will be a tourist area and a high-grade commercial and residential area. The northeast is the seat of Australian governor's office, government office, city hall and other government leaders, which can be said to be the administrative center of Macao.

The mountains of Taipa Island are mainly composed of granite, which runs from northeast to southwest, and dominate the hills of the whole island with undulating shapes. The highest one is Dadang (Jijing Mountain), with an altitude of159.438+0m. The whole island was originally composed of two small islands, Dadangzai and Xiaodangzai, which were later connected by island sandbars due to river and sea alluvial. The northwest coast of Taipa Island is shallow.

The terrain around the island is the highest in Australia, and the whole island is hilly, most of which are above 100 meters, mostly concentrated in the central and eastern parts. The rocks are mainly granite and volcanic rocks. Dieshitang Mountain is 176.45 meters above sea level, which is the highest point around the island and the highest peak in Australia. Because the road ring is far away from the coast of South China, the accumulation is slightly slower than that of Dangzi, and the coastal sea water is deep. The north shore is steep cliffs, and the south is the ocean to the west. Cape and beach appear alternately.

Macao's coastline is 937.5 kilometers long, belonging to the relatively tortuous South China harbor topography. There are many bays for ships to berth, which flourished hundreds of years ago. However, because Macao is located between the west side of the outer edge of the Pearl River Estuary and Modaomen Bay, it is deeply influenced by the silt in the Pearl River Estuary and the Modaomen alluvial fan. Except for Kowloon Bay, Zhuhai Bay and Heishan Bay, other harbors in Macao were either opened as ports or disappeared due to silt accumulation or reclamation, leaving only a historical term.
