Introduce five universities in Spain

There are two kinds of comprehensive universities in Spain: public universities and private universities. At present, there are 62 public and private universities.

Before the Bologna reform, Spain's education system was divided into three stages:

1. The first stage of education (short-term stage, that is, junior college stage, three-year academic system, and the degree obtained is Diplomatura). College graduates can continue their second-stage education in similar disciplines, or directly or indirectly enter the second-stage undergraduate study by studying other auxiliary courses.

2. The first and second stages of education (long-term stage, that is, the complete undergraduate stage, with a schooling period of five years). This kind of study is divided into two stages, but after passing the first stage, no graduation certificate will be issued, which does not mean that the whole study is completed or there are special professional qualifications. Only when students have completed all two stages of study can they obtain the corresponding bachelor's degree according to the subjects they have studied.

3. Only the second stage of education (that is, only the last two years of undergraduate education). This kind of study lasts for 2 years, and the corresponding bachelor's degree can be obtained after completion. Students who have completed the first stage of a college or university can enter this stage directly or indirectly by taking other supplementary courses.

4. The third stage of education (that is, doctoral study). Students with a bachelor's degree can enter this stage of study. After completing the corresponding doctoral program and passing the doctoral thesis, students can obtain a doctoral degree in the corresponding academic field.

After the Bologna reform, Spanish universities began to implement the 3-5-8 academic system, which is very common in Europe, according to DecreeNo. 12007 issued on October 20th, 2007.

5. The first stage of education is a four-year academic system, which requires the completion of 240 ECTS credits and the acquisition of a Bachelor's Degree Certificate (Grado) in the corresponding discipline.

6. The second stage of education, which lasts for one or two years, has completed 60 or 120 ECTS credits respectively and obtained a master's degree certificate (Máster) in the corresponding discipline.

7. In the third stage of education, students who have obtained a master's degree can enter this stage of study. After completing the corresponding doctoral program and passing the doctoral thesis, students can obtain a doctoral degree in the corresponding academic field.
