Can I play with my mobile phone by plane in China?
China International Airlines and other companies also indicated that they are paying close attention to evaluating and improving the plan.
With the rapid development of mobile Internet, the demand for using portable electronic devices, especially mobile phones, has become increasingly strong, and surfing the Internet with mobile phones on airplanes has become a hot topic in recent years.
The fifth revision of "Rules for Examination and Approval of Business Qualification of Domestic Large Aircraft Air Transport Carriers" which came into effect on June 65, 1965 at 438+07, 65, 438+00, made it clear that whether or not to use electronic equipment such as mobile phones on airplanes is up to airlines to decide independently. On June 6th, 65438+ 10/KLOC-0, the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued the Guide for the Use and Evaluation of Portable Electronic Equipment (PED).
According to the relevant requirements of the above regulations, China Eastern Airlines indicated that it has formulated and completed the relevant Landing Rules. HNA also said that it has opened up its work on portable electronic devices, including revision of policies and operating procedures and crew training.
Although only the above two companies announced the release of the news. Spring Airlines said on the same day that it is expected that passengers will be able to use electronic devices such as mobile phones on the plane in the first half of the year. 17 that night, the relevant person in charge of Spring Airlines told the reporter, "We are taking the time to evaluate." Air China also stated that "the relevant work plan is being further improved."
What portable electronic devices do airlines open?
The reporter noted that China Eastern Airlines and Hainan Airlines announced the release of portable electronic devices (PED) such as mobile phones, tablets (PADs), laptops and e-readers.
According to the Guide, portable electronic devices generally refer to portable electronic devices that use electricity as energy and can be held by hand. For example: notebook computers, tablet computers, e-books, mobile phones, video players, electronic game machines.
What function does an open electronic device need?
According to the requirements of relevant regulations, China Eastern Airlines has made it clear that mobile phones (smart phones) with flight mode and small PED devices such as portable computers or tablets, e-books, audio and video players and electronic game machines within the specified size need to turn on the flight mode of mobile phones and turn off the cellular mobile communication function.
Lin Zhijie, a civil aviation expert, said in an interview that for safety reasons, turning on the flight mode and turning off the cellular mobile communication function will become the basic premise for terminal enterprises to release their on-board mobile phones.
According to him, most foreign airlines operate in an open flight mode, and a few airlines are allowed to use cellular signals, even at low altitude. But for security reasons, there should be a gradual exploration process in China.
What kind of electronic devices, such as mobile phones, are still prohibited?
China Eastern Airlines has made it clear that mobile phones and other equipment that do not have flight mode are still prohibited from being used in the air.
In addition, portable computers, PADs and other large PED equipment exceeding the specified size can only be used in the cruise phase of the aircraft, and it is prohibited to use them in key flight phases such as taxiing, takeoff, descent and landing.
Lin Zhijie believes that with the gradual development of science and technology and the accumulation of operational data, these prohibited projects may be gradually liberalized.
Under what special circumstances is it forbidden to use?
Under the following special circumstances, except for the EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) which is recognized as necessary to ensure flight safety, the use of portable electronic equipment should be prohibited: First, the low-visibility flight phase (Class II and III approach landing and low-visibility take-off); Second, the aircraft is suspected of being interfered by portable electronic equipment.
The Guide proposes that all PED's on board (except medical electronic devices such as pacemakers and portable oxygen generators) must be disabled when navigation and communication equipment on board is disturbed or the crew issues instructions in an emergency.
The Guide emphasizes that in the course of flight, when the aircraft captain has existing electronic interference and it is suspected that the interference comes from portable electronic devices used by the crew on board, the captain and his authorized personnel should ask him to turn off these portable electronic devices; If the circumstances are serious, it shall be handed over to the ground public security organ after the plane lands and reported to the Civil Aviation Administration afterwards.
After opening, can the mobile phone surf the Internet in the air?
China Eastern Airlines said that passengers choose to take the plane with Wi-Fi service provided by China Eastern Airlines and apply for the login password in APP or official website in advance. After boarding the plane, passengers can turn on the Wi-Fi function of their mobile phones to connect to the Internet. At present, China Eastern Airlines has 74 Wi-Fi aircraft in the air, covering all international long-haul routes and 166 domestic key business routes.
According to the latest survey of Inmarsat, on-board WiFi has become the third major factor affecting passenger choice after ticket price and flight time. The reporter noted that China's airborne WiFi is still in the embryonic stage of the pilot project, and most of the airborne WiFi aircraft are from China Eastern Airlines, but other airlines are speeding up the follow-up.
The National Civil Aviation Work Conference proposed that in 20 18 years, the high-altitude mobile terminals will be connected to the local area network or Internet service on a trial basis. Encourage airlines to use their own mobile terminals to access the cabin entertainment information system on aircraft with cabin wireless LAN; On the plane with cabin air-ground communication capability, realize the internet access in the air, so that passengers can also have WIFI in the air.
Experts believe that after the mobile phone is released on the plane, it will greatly promote the development of domestic air WIFI, and obvious progress will be seen within one or two years. According to China Civil Aviation Network, China Southern Airlines, Air China, Xiamen Airlines and Hainan Airlines have all upgraded from the original LAN to the Internet on Ku satellite. It is estimated that by 20021year, China's Internet fleet is expected to approach 50% of the total fleet size and exceed 2,400.
Will there be a charge for surfing the Internet in the air? Is it expensive?
In the future, after mobile phones are connected to the Internet via satellite equipment, passengers will be able to shop in the air, book transfers, book hotels, watch news, make video calls, chat with QQ via WeChat, swipe Weibo, send and receive emails, etc.
Is it expensive to charge for surfing the internet that passengers care about? It is found that there is no charge for air WiFi of China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Air China and Hainan Airlines. Lin Zhijie said that at present, the cost of surfing the Internet by plane is relatively high. If airlines want to attract passengers to buy tickets, there is no problem of charging passengers, or a symbolic fee.
"But if airlines regard it as a profitable project, they will charge passengers directly, or charge advertisers and other channels." He said that at present, some domestic airlines may directly charge passengers traffic fees in the future.
It is understood that at present, the most important income of global airlines' on-board interconnection is data traffic or online time.
However, experts believe that the use of open mobile phones will have a subversive impact on the car audio-visual entertainment equipment industry. In the future, aviation enterprises can also develop live content, video-on-demand, sky mall, on-board networking as the carrier of advertising and other income.
