Introduction to Xingxingshao Reservoir
The Xingxingshao Reservoir is a large valley-shaped reservoir on the Chalu River, a tributary of the Yinma River. The dam site is located in Chaluhe Town, Yongji County, Jilin Province. The geographical coordinates of the center point are: 126°04′ east longitude and 43°40′ north latitude. "Star" means "hazelnut" in Manchu. It is also said that meteorites landed here in the past, and it was also the whistle point for crossing the Chalu River, hence the name "Star Whistle". Construction of the reservoir started in 1958, was suspended and rebuilt twice, and was completed in 1974. Danger removal and reinforcement were carried out from 1976 to 1979, with a total storage capacity of 265 million cubic meters. The reservoir area utilizes superior resources and has promising prospects for tourism development.
