3. Mainland residents traveling to Taiwan should regulate their personal behavior. They are not allowed to participate in activities and gatherings that are detrimental to cross-Strait relations, are not allowed to make remarks that are detrimental to cross-Strait relations, are not allowed to carry and disseminate promotional materials that are detrimental to cross-Strait relations, and are not allowed to participate in activities involving gambling, pornography, drugs, etc.
NTD: Inbound passengers are allowed to bring in NT$60,000.
U.S. dollars: There are no restrictions on inbound passengers bringing foreign currency into the country, but if the currency exceeds the equivalent of 10,000 U.S. dollars, they must declare it to the customs upon entry; if it is not declared upon entry, the excess shall be confiscated.
RMB: Inbound passengers carrying more than 20,000 yuan in RMB should automatically declare it to the customs when entering the country; the excess amount will be sealed at the customs and allowed to be taken out when leaving the country.
The currency in circulation in Taiwan is the New Taiwan Dollar (NT$). The exchange rate is approximately 1:4.7. The exchange rate fluctuates. Please refer to the day. Some banks in Taiwan can realize direct exchange between RMB and Taiwan dollar. But not all banks can exchange it, so it is more convenient to bring Hong Kong dollars or US dollars. Taiwan banknotes are divided into 2,000 yuan, 1,000 yuan, 500 yuan, 200 yuan, and 100 yuan; coins are divided into 50 yuan, 20 yuan, 10 yuan, 5 yuan, and 1 yuan. Credit cards, VISA, and MasterCard dual-currency credit cards can be used in general shopping malls.
Warm reminder: If you are transferring flights, it is best not to exchange Taiwan dollars at the Hong Kong Airport. The exchange rate is not cost-effective. You can exchange the Hong Kong dollars in the mainland or at an exchange shop in Hong Kong, and then exchange them at a bank in Taipei. Exchange for New Taiwan Dollars. If an ATM in Taiwan is marked with UnionPay, you can also directly withdraw New Taiwan Dollars with a mainland bank card.
