How to plan Chengde travel itinerary
In the morning, we visited Puning Temple, the largest Buddhist activity base in the north, where the world's largest golden lacquered wood carving of Thousand-Armed Guanyin is enshrined; we visited the family temple of the Sixth Panchen Lama, Xumi Fushou Temple; in the afternoon we visited The largest royal garden in the world - Summer Resort, Green Peak, one of the ten famous mountains in Chengde.
The second day of the tour is the N221 train from Beijing to Chengde, departing from Beijing Station at 7:16 in the morning. Arrive at destination at 11:20 noon. When we arrived in Chengde, we bought return tickets at 14:30 the next day. Then take a taxi to Lulu Hotel. The taxi fare of 10 yuan actually proves that 5 yuan is enough. The environmental hygiene of Lulu Hotel is not bad. Standard room is 120/day, special price now. I have called several hotels with the same star rating before, and the prices are much higher than Lulu.
After the room was packed, I started to go to my first destination, the summer resort. Lulu was outside the bus stop. It is very convenient to take bus No. 6 directly to the Summer Resort. But if you have to prepare some change, you won’t be able to sell it. Tickets are RMB 60 in off-season and RMB 90 in peak season, with a guaranteed price of RMB 2. In fact, insurance is not necessary, and it is recommended that you do not buy it. At this time, a tour guide will strike up a conversation. I personally feel that it is unclear whether there are tour guides in the off-season, because the mountains are closed and 80% of the mountainous areas cannot be seen.
I hired a tour guide, and the price reached 20 yuan. In fact, I thought it could be even lower in the future. Although the Summer Resort is large, when the mountain is closed in winter, the remaining scenery is similar to that of an ordinary park. I read it in just over an hour. The tour guide will recommend going to the nearby Temple of Fortune to worship Buddha. The Temple of Fortune is known as the first of the eight outer temples and is also a Taoist temple. I was fooled and it turned out not to be worth watching. It's very small. Tickets are RMB 20 in low season and RMB 40 in peak season.
You have to buy incense when you enter, and the cheapest one costs 30. Then every time you worship Buddha, someone pretending to be a Taoist nun will come to you for advice. Don't believe it, it's all a scam. The next morning I went to Puning Temple and took bus No. 6 and got off at Dafu Temple Station. Tickets are RMB 40 in off-season and RMB 60 in peak season, without insurance. I didn’t want to look for a tour guide anymore, but I couldn’t help being fooled. Finally the deal was settled for 10 yuan. After consulting online, I bought incense outside the temple, and the tour guide will ask you to consecrate it, draw lots, etc.
It was echoed by others. Anyway, I refused. Then before worshiping the last and largest Buddha statue, you will find a musician, and the tour guide will naturally introduce you to him. Then, a man in a leather jacket that doesn't match the whole temple will guide you to worship Buddha, a musician will play music, and then leave your name on a booklet, and finally pay 100 yuan.
When I was about to kneel down and worship Buddha in front of the confused walkway, I suddenly remembered that the Internet had clearly stated that this was a new way to deceive people, so I pulled back from the cliff, and finally I was not deceived. At this time, the tour guide will find that he is a little impatient, of course because he did not mention the money. Rushing through the money, they'll be looking for their next target. Due to lack of time, I did not visit Putuo Zongcheng Temple this time.
But in general, the tour guide is the most dissatisfied. It’s also good to go to the city center if you have time. There are KFC, California beef noodles, etc. There is also the legendary Qianlong Dumpling House, which is neither expensive nor low-end, with thin skin and big fillings. Worth a try. Due to limited time, the tour is incomplete, but I hope it can give you some help.
