Shooting skills of night portrait

Lead: The answer here is the idea of shooting at night and the flexible use of a small number of accessories. The difficulty ranges from primary to intermediate, excluding multi-flash lighting and outdoor lighting. If you want to see professional night lighting, please make a detour. Let's have a look!

The biggest test of night scene shooting for the camera is that the shutter speed slows down because of the small amount of light. There are three ways to solve this problem: opening the aperture, increasing the sensitivity, and manually increasing the amount of light entering.

Increasing sensitivity is the easiest way, but high sensitivity will increase the noise of photos and reduce the picture effect. It is recommended to drive to the night scene of ISO400 ~800. If you encounter a favorite dark field, you can turn it up appropriately, but it is generally not recommended to open it above ISO2000.

Large aperture is the choice of most movie friends to shoot night scenes, which will have the background blur effect that girls like, but they often need to buy another one. Children's shoes with 18-55 or 18- 105 or 18-200 lenses. Looking down, the maximum aperture of your lens is F3.5, so your aperture is not big enough.

At night, there will be bright lights on the first floor of the observation deck on the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong, which can be used to shoot portraits. However, there is not enough light where there is a star's handprint, and the aperture is F 1.4, so children's shoes should not ask if such photos can be taken by mobile phones and card machines. The answer is no!

Manually increasing the amount of light is actually adding light on the basis of night scenes. The general method is to use flash, hand-held LED and outdoor lighting.

With the flash effect, the top of the machine will flash.

In addition, when shooting portraits at night, the street lamps are mostly yellow, so choose fluorescent lamp or tungsten lamp mode in color temperature to neutralize the yellow in the picture to make the picture more natural.

Next, analyze the needs and problems of everyone shooting at night:

In fact, there are roughly two situations. The first one is because I think the lighting decoration in the city at night is very beautiful, and I want to take a group photo, but my face is either black or paste. The second requirement is to take pictures in the dark, and the light source can't be found at all, which can't keep up with the focus or shutter speed.

The problem of batter is nothing more than that the shutter speed is too slow and out of focus. As mentioned above, the slow shutter speed needs to be solved by improving the sensitivity and large aperture. If out of focus, it is probably because the light behind is too bright, leading to the next black face problem.

Face blackening is actually a light problem, and the most important thing in night shooting is to find light. Whether it is the original light or artificial light in night scene shooting, it is the focus of night scene shooting.

So, where does light come from?

The lights that can be found in city night scenes are: shop window lights, street lights, light boards and light boxes, and car lights.

Among these lamps, shop lamps are the best, because most of them are fluorescent lamps with correct color temperature and sufficient brightness. When taking pictures, you can borrow light to get more enough light.

In this photo, I am standing next to a pharmacy in Shinjuku, and my face is basically illuminated by the light on the left, so that I can focus (the girl behind me is obviously not as bright as me).

Next to Tintin Station in Hong Kong, the light on my face is the fluorescent lamp of Tintin Station, so the color looks colder than the scenery behind me (yes, I am the kind of person who wants to take a look at what light is overhead before taking pictures).

And if you don't have fluorescent lights, you can find large light boxes and decorative lights:

Hoi An in Vietnam is a city of lanterns. Find a brighter lantern and stop!

If you don't have the above two things, you can only find street lamps. There are many kinds of street lamps, except the brightness and color rendering rate. In some bright areas, such as squares, try to face the light source when taking pictures, and the light on your face is barely enough.

But to tell you the truth, these lights are already very poor. Street lamps often make their faces miserable and yellow, and they lose many details. If the light is really bad, you can process the photo in black and white or monochrome:

Slow door shooting

Shutters that slow down due to insufficient light can sometimes get more interesting effects, but when shooting the slow door, you need to use a tripod or put it somewhere to fix it, and people are required not to move when shooting portraits!

When the shutter speed is 1/2 seconds, you can shoot the left and right cars with a sense of flow. I hold this photo in my hand. Don't you learn children's shoes? Theoretically, if the shutter speed is slower than 1/50 seconds, don't hold it down easily.

In short, if you don't use flash accessories, you should follow the light when taking pictures, and take pictures where there is light.

Finally, give children's shoes a piece of advice. When you see a beautiful fountain and a bunch of beautiful lantern trees, don't run down to take pictures. Because your back is very bright, you must be a black group in the photo. If the camera is pointed at you, the scenery behind you will be overexposed, so you must first find the light in front, so that the light can be balanced and photographed ~

Flash application:

Do you think it's miserable to look for light everywhere? Then use the flash.

If you use an external flash, you can use TTL to measure the light and adjust the output. If you use an overhead flash, you can only use paper towels to cover the light to control the light.

This is an example of a combination of a large aperture and a flash. The model's face is exposed correctly, and the front scenic spot is P.

The light in this photo is in the back, but there is no light in the front. If you shoot directly, your face will definitely be black, so add a flash to illuminate your face and also illuminate the snowflakes, so as to get the effect of snowflakes falling.

The following are some ways to play the slow door, many of which are old photos of my school days.

Hou Lian preamble

In the case of low-speed shutter (above 1 sec), the subject will continue to move after flashing the flash, or shake the camera, which will produce many virtual shadows and light bars, which is more suitable for playing in nightclubs.

Stroboscopic multiple exposure

In the case of a low-speed shutter, a moving subject is multiflash to shoot a plurality of exposed subjects.

Starry shooting

Many people ask how the portraits in the starry sky were taken. Let's talk briefly here.

Canon 5D2 lens 17-40 F4, ISO2000 for 20 seconds.

Basic principles of starry sky shooting: maximum wide angle, maximum aperture of the lens, screw the lens to infinity (that is, on the lens? Logo), exposure time 15~30 seconds, sensitivity 2000~4000.

The light used in this photo is the weak street lamp of the nearby hotel, which produces silhouette light on me. Because of the long exposure time, the weak light becomes very clear.

I usually shoot the starry sky and try to find a place with a brighter foreground, but sometimes it will be completely dark, as shown below:

Canon 5D2 lens16-35f2.8ISO200010 second

It was dark under the starry sky in Baoyuze in, and the exposure took 10 second. During the ten-second exposure, scan the model with a paper towel on the flashlight of the mobile phone, and scan it intermittently for three times at 10 second to get the correct light.

The whole writing is a night shooting tutorial that is relatively close to the people. In fact, the main reason is that I don't use multiple flash games myself? It takes more brains to shoot at night than during the day, but it is easy to get a surprise effect with a small lamp. It is not so difficult to do what you can according to your own equipment and take the initiative to find light. I hope everyone can take their favorite photos when they go out to play at night.
