What's the level of English test?
PETS is a national English proficiency test system designed and implemented by the Examination Center of the Ministry of Education. As an educational exchange and cooperation project between the Chinese and British governments, it received technical support from British experts in the design process. A * * * has five levels:
PETS- 1 is the primary level. Candidates who have passed this level of examination basically meet the basic needs of foreign exchange in the same level positions as taxi drivers, hotel bellboy, doorman and traffic police. (there is a subordinate PETS- 1B)
PETS-2 is below average. Candidates who have passed this level of examination basically meet the requirements of entering colleges and universities for further study, and at the same time basically meet the basic needs of foreign exchanges at the same level as hotel receptionists, ordinary employees of banks and ordinary employees of foreign-related enterprises.
PETS-3 is an intermediate level. Candidates who pass this level of examination can reach the graduation level of non-English majors in higher education self-study examination or meet the graduation requirements of non-English majors in ordinary colleges and universities, and basically meet the basic needs of administrative secretaries, assistant managers, junior scientific and technological personnel, employees of foreign companies and other work at the same level in foreign exchanges.
PETS-4 is an upper-middle level, and the English level of candidates who have passed this level examination basically meets the needs of graduate students (non-English majors) in colleges and universities, and basically meets the basic requirements of ordinary professional and technical personnel or scientific researchers, modern enterprise managers and other positions for English.
PETS-5 is the highest level, and the English level of candidates who pass this level of examination basically meets the needs of studying non-English majors or engaging in academic research abroad. This level of English can also meet their basic needs for professional and management work at home and abroad.
These five levels of examination standards are all based on the same ability scale, and there are obvious differences and internal relations between them.
Levels at all levels
The first level is elementary, and its English level basically meets the basic needs of taxi drivers, hotel bellboys, doormen, traffic police and other staff at the same level in foreign exchanges.
Get the first-class qualification certificate and the first-class certificate of the National Medical English Proficiency Test (METS), and you can get the National Medical English Comprehensive Grade Certificate (Grade 1).
The English level of the second-level middle and lower-level students basically meets the requirements of further study in colleges and universities, and also basically meets the basic needs of foreign exchanges of hotel receptionists, general bank employees, general employees of foreign-related enterprises and other staff at the same level.
1. Passing the written test can replace the credits of English (1) in the higher education self-study exam.
2. Obtain the second-level certificate and the second-level certificate of the National Medical English Proficiency Test (METS), and then you can obtain the National Medical English Comprehensive Grade Certificate (Level 2).
Intermediate level 3, the English level can reach the graduation level of non-English majors in higher education self-study exam or meet the requirements of non-English majors in ordinary universities, and basically adapt to the work of administrative secretaries, assistant managers, junior scientific and technical personnel and employees of foreign companies in enterprises and institutions, and meet the basic needs of other staff at the same level in foreign exchanges.
1. Passing the written test can replace the credit of English (II) in the undergraduate stage of the self-study examination for higher education.
2.PETS-3 written test score of 50 or above is a necessary condition for non-English majors to apply for a bachelor's degree.
3. Obtaining the third-level certificate and the third-level certificate of the National Medical English Proficiency Test (METS) can obtain the national comprehensive level certificate of medical English (level 3).
For the CET-4 upper-middle level, the English level of the candidates who have passed this level examination basically meets the needs of graduate students (non-English majors) in colleges and universities, and basically meets the basic requirements of ordinary professional and technical personnel or researchers, modern enterprise managers and other jobs for English.
Adult English majors need a PETS-4 total score of 60 or above to apply for a bachelor's degree.
