I walked on Mount Cook 18km, and I did it.

Don't say you can't do a thing until you do your best. Just like the three of us, on a rainy afternoon, we spent three hours walking in Cook Mountain National Park 18km. We didn't dare to think or do it before.

Mount Cook is the highest peak in southern alps, the South Island of New Zealand, and it is also the highest peak in New Zealand, with an altitude of 3,574 meters. The top of the mountain is covered with ice and snow all year round, and the path leading to the top of the mountain twists and turns, and you can enjoy forests, meadows, reeds and various unknown flowers and plants along the way. From the entrance of Mount Cook National Park, there is a 9-kilometer-long walkway. The Alpine Monument at the entrance is the best point overlooking the scenery of Cook Valley, and the terminal lake is at the end of the walkway, where you can watch the ice falls of Mount Cook at close range.

On the way to Mount Cook, you can see the peaks surrounded by white clouds in the distance, with faint snow. Against the background of blue sky, white clouds and green lake, Cook Mountain still hides half a face from us behind the guitar. From time to time, the car turned one corner after another in our exclamation. Every time we turned a corner, we were a little closer to Mount Cook.

It's past four o'clock in the afternoon after completing the formalities in the hotel. The sun is warm and I want to roll on the grass.

We put our luggage in the room and cleaned it briefly. When we hurried out, we found it was raining lightly. This is the case in New Zealand. Her weather is changeable and there may be showers. It cleared up again after the rain. I'm used to the changeable weather in New Zealand these days, so I don't care anymore. As early as June 5438+ 10 last year, I booked a hiking challenge on the ancient tea-horse road in Yunnan in April this year, and made preparations for it. How can you miss such a good chance to test your grades?

At the entrance of Cook Mountain Park, there is a flat gravel road. We walked the first 1000 meters easily. Slowly, it became a small stone road, and the slope continued to rise. At the steep place, steps appeared. The wide part can be parallel to two people, and the narrow part needs to be slightly sideways to avoid the tourists opposite.

At the first pontoon bridge, we stopped to have a rest. The bridge says "Only 20 people can pass at the same time" in English. There were seven or eight people on the bridge, so we set foot on the pontoon bridge. The pontoon bridge is suspended, and the planks on the bridge deck are uniformly fixed with iron wires. The iron wire is carefully made and interwoven into compartments, which will not slip even in rainy days. Under the bridge, there is milky glacier melt water, roaring down the terrain. The more we go up, the more dangerous the road is, and the different colors and beautiful scenery rekindle our fighting spirit of exploration.

When we passed a large golden reeds, we stopped to take pictures. Unfortunately, a gust of wind blew off Mr. Wang's hat. We watched it turn over among the reeds and then disappeared. Looking at the steep road ahead, my daughter and I urged our husband to go quickly, otherwise we couldn't go back to the hotel before dark. Just now, we asked the tourists who came back from the pier lake and said it would take more than half an hour to get to the pier.

The reluctant husband jumped into the reeds and began to look for his hat. My daughter and I stared helplessly and anxiously at the figure that disappeared among the reeds. Suddenly, Mr. Wang's voice came from a distance: "Found it!" It is risky to find a small hat that is more than one person tall among reeds. Fortunately, there are many hikers on this road. "It is estimated that if there are many people, small animals will not dare to come out." My husband used this sentence to comfort my daughter and me in shock. With this episode, the road behind me was quickly finished in all kinds of "condemnation" of my daughter and me to my husband, which only took more than 20 minutes. The daughter put on her father's hat by the lake and smiled happily.

It was also on this day that my exercise steps occupied the cover of my circle of friends for the first time. In the hotel, a family of three is still wanting more. Maybe we can challenge some more difficult sports in the future. How do you know until you try?
