Traffic Guide for Traveling to Okinawa

The most important thing about going out for self-help travel is traffic. Is it convenient, fast and economical? If you are not careful to connect well, it will cost you money, but it will seriously affect the tour arrangement, so it is a problem that needs attention. Today, I will introduce the transportation in Okinawa to you:

Because Chinese mainland's driver's license is not recognized in Japan, mainland tourists can't rent a car to drive in Okinawa. The main island of Okinawa is not small, and some major scenic spots are not close to Naha city and scattered. The consumption of taxis is very high for us living in Chinese mainland. I remember the first time I went to Okinawa, I spent quite a lot of money on transportation because of frequent taxis.

With the increasing number of trips to Okinawa, I have gradually gained some experience, which I would like to share with you.

1. Monorail trams

Monorail trams are a beautiful landscape in Okinawa. Her operation route runs from Naha Airport (domestic line building) to Ryukyu Mura, across the whole downtown area of Naha, and passes through important hubs and business districts such as Naha Port, bus terminal, Meirong Bridge and Muzhi Station.

every time we come to Okinawa, we will stay at the International Pass first. When we first came, we couldn't find the north, so we took a taxi to the hotel. Later, we found that it was actually very convenient to take the monorail. Get on the bus from the second floor of the domestic line building, take it to Muzhi Station, and get off at the east section of the international communication.

Unlike the crowded and hurried subway and light rail in domestic cities, the Naha monorail always looks so leisurely, and in most of the time, there are some empty carriages. Because it is elevated, you can enjoy the beautiful city scenery of Naha along the way.

It's a pity that there is only one route in Okinawa, and it only runs in Naha area, so other modes of transportation are still needed as a choice for sightseeing.

second, buses

to be honest, I'm really a little tired of buses in Okinawa. Although I have taken it many times, I often have to take it because of economy. The reason for saying this is mainly because it is really inconvenient ......

buses in Okinawa run strictly according to the operating schedule, not the departure time of the terminal, but every stop. For example, there is a bus on a line at a certain station at 1: 21 on the stop sign, and there will definitely be a bus arriving at that time, which is surprising. Of course, it's no good not being punctual. If you miss one, I'm afraid the next one will be 4 minutes or more later. So punctuality but long interval between shifts is one of the characteristics;

not only in Okinawa, but also in Japan, buses are very humanized. When the vehicle stops to get on and off passengers, with the door opened, the device on the chassis will automatically operate, and the whole vehicle will make a "squat" to one side of the door, so that the height of the steps on the door is almost equal to the height of the curb, which is very convenient for passengers to get on and off, especially those with special needs and wheelchair passengers. After the door is closed, the system will restore the body to a normal state.

Drivers of buses will wear straight uniforms, and every passenger will greet you when getting on or off the bus. It's a country of etiquette.

Although you will feel very enjoyable as a passenger, it also has a consequence: Slow

So the car shop is relatively slow, which is another feature of the Okinawa bus.

There is no conductor on the bus, so passengers who use the bus ticket can just show it to the driver when they get off. Passengers who take a single ride take a ticket marked with a digital code from the driver's bridge when they get on the bus. On the other hand, the screen on the bus shows the fare amount of each code ticket at the current station in real time and pays it to the driver when getting off the bus.

In fact, this fare is really not cheap, and it's more than 1,2 yen when you get off the bus by taking a long line. When we first came to Okinawa, six people from our two families went to Zhinian Point in the south to play and take a bus. When we got back, we found that if we took two taxis, the cost seemed to be almost the same. Therefore, the high cost is another feature of the Okinawa bus.

to sum up, when you need to take a bus, first, estimate the cost and time. If many people travel, it is better to take a taxi directly. The second is to buy one-day or multi-day bus tickets as needed (since we haven't bought them, we can't give the price, but it is definitely much cheaper than paying the fare every time); The most important thing is to master the timetable of the train to be taken, including the time of the first and last trains. Many trains close early, and even the number of trains will be reduced on certain days every week.

iii. Taxis

Taxis in Okinawa Island, depending on the model, start at 48-51 yen, starting at 2 kilometers, and then I'm a little confused about how to jump. Usually, it costs around 2, yen for more than 1 kilometers.

Many cars are not very new, but they are very neat and well equipped, and most of the drivers are elderly people. The service attitude is very good, which is simply outrageous.

several times, we booked a car from the hotel to visit the scenic spots, which was very close, which was a starting fee. These taxi uncles not only have to fly by empty, but sometimes they have to wait for us for a while, but they don't have any complaints. They say hello when they get on the bus, help you open and close the door, carry your luggage and thank you when they get off.

Although you don't understand Japanese, the sincerity in their tone will really move you.

quite a few times, when we went to some distant scenic spots, we discussed with the drivers and asked them to wait for a while for fear that we couldn't find a car when we got back. For so many years, I have never been rejected once, and I have never received a waiting fee from us.

Last year, when we visited Miyako Island, we invited two taxis through the hotel. Because we wanted to play all day, we first discussed the matter with the driver's uncle. Unexpectedly, people immediately said, "You don't want to hire a car. It costs 24, yen a day, so let's take a taxi. We will wait for places where you play for a short time, and we will pick you up at the appointed time."

We accepted the suggestion. On the last day of playing, we only paid 24, yen for two cars.

Another interesting thing about Okinawa taxis is that every driver's service card lists his hobbies. What I have seen are: dancing, singing, fishing, music and so on. This may be convenient for passengers to chat and communicate with drivers.

finally, let's talk about the chartered tour.

There are many individuals and companies in Okinawa that provide charter business, and there are some on a treasure. In fact, if you plan the route, it is still very cost-effective to charter a car on this island in one day. We once chartered a ten-seater car and toured for ten hours, with a total cost of 4, yen, which seemed cost-effective per capita.

At that time, our chartered bus route was: from the hotel in Dugu-Ocean Park and Beautiful Aquarium-Ryukyu Village-Remnant Point-Crystal Church-Kadena Observatory-America Mura

In fact, there are 1, Mao, Guyuli Bridge and Guyuli Island on this route, which are basically concentrated in the west coast of Okinawa Island from the northernmost to the middle.

To sum up, if we visit Okinawa Island, the most convenient, economical and time-saving transportation mode is chartered car+taxi+monorail, so we can make good use of the time to take the bus when going to individual scenic spots. I hope the above information can help everyone. ;
