The University of Delaware is one of the oldest first-class universities in the United States. Its history can be traced back to 1743. The school was originally a small private academic institution until 1833 due to the government of appropriation and land-grant schools converted into public universities. The University of Delaware has seven colleges. Its strong majors include engineering (chemistry, biomedicine, mechanics, civil engineering, electrical), business (accounting, business administration, finance, hotel industry, catering industry, system management), science (Agriculture and Natural Resources, Biology, Chemistry, Marine Science, Physics), physical therapy, art preservation, the main reason is that this place has historically been the center of the American chemical and pharmaceutical industry.
