If you want to save money, you can book tickets in official website of L Company in advance. The pier from Koh Samui to Taodao is Mae Nan Pier, which is located in the south beach of Mae Nan, that is, to the west of W Hotel. Company L has a free shuttle bus service. You just need to say the hotel and room number and name when booking the ticket, and I'll pick you up the next day.
