Xiajiang County is located in the center of Jiangxi Province, north of Ji'an City. It borders Xingan County to the northeast, Yongfeng and Jishui Counties to the south, Ji'an County to the west, and Xinyu City to the northwest. The total area is 1287.43 square kilometers. Historical evolution

Xiajiang River, also known as Yuxia. Xiajiang River is located at the strategic point of Ganjiang River, with dangerous terrain, narrow river surface and rapid water flow, so it is named Xiajiang River.

In ancient times, it was located in Xingan and Shiyang counties. In the second year of Wu Baoding's reign in the Three Kingdoms (267), Xingan and Shiyang were settled in Baqiu County.

In the 10th year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (590), Shiyang and Baqiu counties were abolished, and the counties were merged into Luling and Xingan counties respectively. In the fifth year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty (1526), ??Xiajiang County was established.

The county seat was originally located in Baqiu Town on the west bank of the Ganjiang River. In October 1994, the county seat was moved eastward with the approval of the State Council. It was officially moved to Shuibian Town on July 1, 1997.

On June 19, 1985, Shuibian Township was reorganized into a town (Ganfu Tingzi [1985] No. 340). In 1993, Mabu Township, Yanxi Township, and Renhe Township were abolished and Mabu Town, Yanxi Town, and Renhe Town were established (Ganminzi [1993] Approval No. 53). On May 9, 2001, Baqiu Township was revoked and placed under Baqiu Town (Ganminzi [2001] No. 190 Approval ).
