Jiangsu was named after the initials of jiangning house and Suzhou during the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty. It is one of the birthplaces of ancient civilization in China, and is known as the land of plenty. Natural landscape and human landscape blend with each other in the territory, including Taihu Lake, Slender West Lake, Suzhou classical gardens, Ming Tombs, Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and other scenic spots. Suzhou embroidery, Nanjing Yunjin, Yangzhou jade carving and Yixing ceramics are well-known at home and abroad.

Jiangsu is a part of the two states of Xu and Yang in Kyushu, which are recorded in Yu Gong, Shangshu. The Yuan Dynasty implemented the provincial system, and the north and south of Jiangsu belonged to the three provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Jiangbei in Henan. In the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933), an administrative supervision area was established. The system in Jiangsu Province continued until after the Republic of China.
