At 8:22 on February 25, the Nanchang Fire Brigade received an alarm that a fire broke out on the second floor of the HNA Platinum Hotel at No. 348 Honggu Middle Avenue. The fire was caused by the decoration of Changtianxia KTV. In the morning, when workers were cutting the escalator, sparks flew and ignited the garbage and paper piled nearby, causing the fire.

The Nanchang Fire Brigade immediately dispatched 7 squadrons, 15 fire trucks, 1 smoke exhaust truck, 1 fire robot and more than 160 officers and soldiers to the scene for rescue.

As of 11:30, the open fire had been extinguished and more than 260 residents upstairs had been evacuated.
