Eight months later, he won the mantle of five ancestors with a Buddhist song and became the sixth ancestor of Dongtu Zen.

the sixth ancestor followed the teacher's words: stop when you are pregnant, and hide when you meet. All the way to the south, then hidden in Huaiji, Sihui (now Zhaoqing, Guangdong) area, mixed with the mountain people.

After fifteen years of seclusion, he came out of Guangxiao Temple in Guangzhou, and became an instant hit in the Buddhist world with a case of "Debate on the Wind".

Later, he went north to Caoxi (now Shaoguan, Guangdong Province) and lived in Nanhua Temple, where he taught Buddhism for 36 years, and started Nanchan Dunjiao, which was a rival to Beichan Dianjiao, a wonderful elder brother.

In the first year of Emperor Gaozong Hongdao in the Tang Dynasty (AD 683), Hui Neng sent his disciples back to Xia Lu Cun, his hometown in NSW, to build a Hoonji to repay his parents' kindness.

in the first year of Shenlong (75), Wu Zetian and Tang Zhongzong sent Xue Jian, an internal servant, to Baolin Temple with letters, and called six ancestors to Beijing to support them. Politely refuse, the sixth ancestor, was ill with old age, and entrusted Xue Jian to present the cassock to the emperor. Wu Zetian was overjoyed and gave the former residence of six ancestors the "Guo En Temple".

In July of the first year of birth (712), the Sixth Ancestor knew that he was dying, so he ordered his disciples to go back to Guo 'en Temple in Xinzhou to build a tower of gratitude. The purpose of building the tower is to collect Buddhist relics. The Gratitude Tower was completed as scheduled in the following summer. On the eighth day of July in the second year of his birth (713), the Sixth Ancestor led his disciples back to the abbot of Guo 'en Temple from Caoxi, where they opened the church and promoted Dunjiao. He died in his former residence on the third day of August of the same year.

After the death of the sixth ancestor, Guangxiao Temple, Caoxi Nanhua Temple and Huangmei Dongshan Temple all sent people to welcome the real body of the sixth ancestor Hui Neng, but Guo 'en Temple certainly refused. Just as the parties were arguing, it was suggested that the ancestors should decide where their souls would go.

So the date is set at Incense Burning Hill. You should sit down according to the geographical location of the temple, take a note of incense and light it in the center. Wherever the cigarettes float, the six ancestors will return.

At that time, it was autumn and winter, but unexpectedly, the southeast wind was hoisted and smoke drifted to the northwest, so Sixth Ancestor invited him to Caoxi Baolin Temple (now Nanhua Temple).

The people of NSW are yearning for it and crying. That night, the Sixth Ancestor gave his disciples a dream and told them: "Let the world dry, half of it will be harvested here, and let the world be chaotic, and there will be no worries here forever."

Since then, the people of NSW have lived in peace for more than 1 years. Even if the world is in chaos, it has not affected here too much.

Throughout the life of Hui Neng, the sixth ancestor, every choice he made was to honestly pursue his inner thoughts, and to persevere in the end without fear of hardships.

From then on, Zen master Dharma's prediction that "a flower blooms with five leaves, and the result naturally comes true" was realized from the six ancestors.

The Hongzhou legal system, which was initiated by the sixth ancestor's disciple, Mazu Daoyi, adheres to the meditation concept of "normal mind is the Tao" and established Linji Sect, which has the greatest influence and has dominated the world so far.
