Water bus, Hangzhou, is a water bus system running on the Hangzhou Canal and urban rivers. It was officially opened on June 28th, 2004, and operated by Hangzhou water bus Co., Ltd. Hangzhou is the first city in China to open water bus on the main urban canal. There are two water bus that were put into operation ahead of schedule, namely "Qianjiang River" and "Canal", with a length of 23 meters.

Hangzhou is the first batch of national historical and cultural cities, the birthplace of the famous Li family in Hangzhou, and is known as the "Southeast Famous County". The excavation of the site across the lake bridge shows that humans lived here more than 8000 years ago. Liangzhu culture more than 5,000 years ago is called "the dawn of Chinese civilization". Hangzhou has a history of more than 2200 years since the establishment of the county government in Qin Dynasty. The capital of Hangzhou in the Five Dynasties and the Southern Song Dynasty was Wu Yueguo.

Hangzhou is located in the south wing of China Yangtze River Delta, the west end of Hangzhou Bay, the lower reaches of Qiantang River and the southern end of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. Located between 2911′ ~ 30 34 ′ north latitude and18 20 ′ ~128 east longitude, it is an important central city in the Yangtze River Delta and a transportation hub in the southeast of China. The geographic coordinates of the city center are 120 12' east and 30 16' north, with a total area of 16850 square kilometers. The city origin (zero kilometer sign) is located at the coordinate origin of Weizi Garden in Shangcheng District.

Hangzhou is located in the southern edge of the Yangtze River Delta and Qiantang River Basin, with complex and diverse topography. The western part of Hangzhou belongs to the hilly area of western Zhejiang, and the main mountain range is Tianmu Mountain. The eastern part belongs to the northern Zhejiang plain, with low terrain, dense river network, dense lakes and rich products, and has the typical characteristics of "Jiangnan Water Town".
