Yingzhou belongs to China.

Yingzhou, the old name of Chongming Island, is located in the Yangtze River estuary and belongs to Shanghai. The administrative area of the island is Chongming District, with a small number of Qilong Town and Haiyong Town in Jiangsu Province. Yingzhou is the third largest island in China, known as "the gateway to the Yangtze River and Yingzhou in the East China Sea", the largest alluvial island in the estuary and the largest sand island in the world.

Yingzhou (Chongming Island) has an area of 1 200.68 square kilometers and a population of about 8210.5 million. The island has flat terrain, fertile land and beautiful natural environment, which is suitable for self-cultivation. Yingzhou (Chongming Island) is continuously piled up by the Yangtze River, with an annual increase of 5 square kilometers of land. It is expected to border the northern land in 50 years.

Extended data

1300 For more than 300 years, Yingzhou (Chongming Island) has evolved from two sandbanks in the Yangtze River estuary to the third largest island in the motherland, which is a typical sandbank island with the largest area in China. It is located at the mouth of the Yangtze River, facing the river on three sides and the East China Sea in the southeast. It is 76 kilometers long from east to west and 13- 18 kilometers wide from north to south, and looks like a lying silkworm.

Yingzhou (Chongming Island) is the product of the development of the new Yangtze River Delta, and its birthplace is the shallow sea outside the Yangtze River estuary. When the Yangtze River rushes eastward and flows into the estuary area, a large amount of sediment is gradually deposited here due to the decrease of the specific gradient and the slow flow rate. On the one hand, the coastal plain is formed on the north and south banks of the Yangtze River estuary, and on the other hand, scattered estuary sandbars are formed in the river channel. In this way, Chongming Island has gradually become a typical estuary sand island.
