Heyuan special

Heyuan Garden, also known as "Jixiao Mountain Villa", is a classical garden building in China, which was built in the middle of Qing Dynasty and is known as "the first garden in the late Qing Dynasty".

Heyuan has the reputation of "the first garden in the late Qing Dynasty" and its layout is full of layers.

He Zhiqing, the owner of Heyuan Garden, was a gentry in Yangzhou and married Li Hongzhang, an important official in the late Qing Dynasty, and Sun Jianai, the teacher of Emperor Guangxu. He built this private garden in the 9th year of Guangxu (AD 1883). Heyuan has the reputation of "the first garden in the late Qing Dynasty". The buildings in the park combine Chinese and western styles, with multiple corridors in series and distinct layout.

The biggest feature of Heyuan architecture is the cloister.

The whole garden consists of a back garden, a residential courtyard and a flaky mountain house located in the southeast (a pile of rockeries, with only relics left, on a very small scale), and each part is connected by a cloister (Yangzhou people commonly call it "cloister", which is divided into two floors). This two-story cloister is the biggest feature of Heyuan architecture. People in the garden walk in the cloister, sheltering from rain in rainy days and shading in sunny days, which is not affected by the weather.

If you want to play, you need to pay attention to the information of the door.

Scenic spots around Heyuan

Zhu Ziqing's former residence, Nanhexia historical block and Geyuan.

Go to Zhu Ziqing's former residence, which is elegant in appearance and worth seeing.

Zhu Ziqing's former residence: Zhu Ziqing's former residence was built in the Qing Dynasty, which is a typical residential "three-in-one courtyard" building in Yangzhou. Yangzhou "Zhu Ziqing's Former Residence" is the best preserved former residence of Zhu in China.

The quaint Nanhexia historic block is well preserved.

Nanhexia Historic District: In the alleys and deep houses, the remains of ancient houses abound, and old wells, brick-carved gatehouses and ancient trees can be seen everywhere. According to reports, in Nanhexia block, in addition to Heyuan, a famous salt merchant's mansion, there are many well-preserved salt merchant's mansions and halls, such as Hunan Hall (Yuan Di), Pingyuan, Gu, Jiajia Garden, Er Mingyue Building, Xu Yunfu's former residence (Zundetang), Liao Keting's former residence of salt merchants, Lingnan Hall and Si 'an Office. At the same time, there are many Gu Xiang buildings in this block, such as Nanhexia, Dashu Lane, Dingjiawan, Wucheng Lane, Jushi Lane, Yin Shi Street and Xincang Lane. There are many ancient wells and houses in the lane, most of which follow the prototype, and the style of the block is relatively complete. There are still 16 ancient trees 100 years old in this area.

The four rockeries in Geyuan are very distinctive, and the park is full of bamboo.

Geyuan: Geyuan was built on the former site of Shouzhi Garden in Ming Dynasty by Huang Zhijun, the "general manager of salt affairs in two Huai Dynasties" during Jiaqing and Daoguang years of Qing Dynasty. At that time, bamboo was planted all over the garden. Because bamboo leaves are shaped like "Ge", it is named "Ge" Garden. The four rockeries in the garden are very distinctive, and the week in the garden seems to have experienced spring, summer, autumn and winter.
