Introduction of Four Shanghai Style Masters in Late Qing Dynasty

1, Wu Changshuo (1844.8.1-1927.11.29), whose real name is Jun, also known as Changshuo, also known as Cang Shi and Cang Shi, has a very different alias. Wucun, Xiaofeng County, Zhejiang Province (now Anji County, Huzhou City). During the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, China was a famous painter, calligrapher and seal engraver, a representative of "Houhai School" and the first president of Hangzhou Xiling Printing Society. Together with Ren Bonian, Pu Hua and Xugu, they are called "four outstanding Shanghai scholars in the late Qing Dynasty".

2. Ren Yi (1840— 1896), namely Ren Bonian, was a famous painter in the late Qing Dynasty. The first name is Run, the word is far away, and it is called Xiao Lou. Later, it was renamed Yi, the word Bo Nian, and the nickname was OK, and it was a Taoist priest. Wu Hangren, Yin Shan, Zhejiang (now Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou). Ren Bonian is an outstanding modern painter in China. Among the "four terms", his achievements are the most outstanding. He is the leader of "Shanghai School" and one of the "Four Masters of Shanghai School".

3. Pu Hua (1832—191), whose real name is Cheng, whose real name is English, and whose name is Xu Shan unofficial history, a Taoist who planted bamboo, is from Jiaxing. Together with Ren Yi, Wu Changshuo and Xu Gu, he was the pioneer of the maritime painting school in the late Qing Dynasty. My father sells jiaozi in downtown Jiaxing, and his family is very poor. Grandpa taught me to read when I was a child, and I can write in a few years. After studying under Lin Xueyan, I learned eight-part essay. Xianfeng of Qing Dynasty was a scholar for three years (1853). Because the family is poor, there is no money to continue studying and pursue fame, so I am addicted to artistic things and do not seek career advancement. At the age of 20, I tried to write two articles on the same topic, but I couldn't bear to write regular script. I exchange manuscripts and others write them for me.

4. Xugu (1823- 1896) was born in Xin 'an (now Shexian), Anhui Province, with a common surname of Zhu and a name of Huairen. He used to be a general of the Qing court and became a monk because he didn't want to be ordered to attack the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. "He was deeply touched, so he put on a sea of people", but he didn't worship Buddha with his fate, just amused himself with calligraphy and painting. Later in Shanghai, he also secretly helped the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. After Xu Gu became a monk, he traveled around the world with a pen and inkstone, covering Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces, especially Shanghai, Suzhou and Yangzhou. He made a living by selling paintings, as he said in his poem, "Write 3,000 paintings in his spare time and beg for food."
