Why are hotels in China called hotels instead of liquor sellers?

In ancient times, there were two places where people rested, namely, inns and restaurants. Comparatively speaking, inns are professional and hotels are amateurs, so most inns don't provide food because people take dry food with them on the road. The hotel is a place for local people to catch up and drink, and only provides temporary lounges for drunken people. Living conditions are far less short-lived than the inn. Later, China's commercial trade developed. The accommodation market has expanded. Many hotels have developed into comprehensive service places including accommodation. After the founding of New China, the traditional culture of wine declined. Nowadays, people's drinking habit is to go to bars and barbecue shops to drink beer. It is more difficult for hotels to sell wine than to make rooms directly, which has caused this situation.
