Its core is to strengthen environmental protection and rational use of resources in the process of production and operation on the basis of providing customers with green rooms and green restaurants that meet the requirements of safety, health and environmental protection. In the mid-1990s, the concept of "green hotel" from abroad was introduced to China, and "green action" was implemented in foreign-funded and joint-venture hotels and hotels managed by some foreign-funded management groups in some big cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and some hotels launched activities spontaneously. During the period of 1999, Zhejiang Province launched the activity of creating green hotels throughout the province. This is the first activity in China to create a green hotel in a provincial area. Since then, Shenzhen, Guangxi, Sichuan, Hebei, Shandong and other provinces and cities have launched green hotel creation activities. The construction of green hotels has also brought economic benefits to hotels. The "green" standard consists of energy saving, environmental protection, consumption reduction, green service (including green procurement), green publicity and green marketing, but what guests see is often only part of it, while energy saving, environmental protection, account establishment, waste gas emission and solid waste treatment are invisible. At first, many hotels thought it was a formality, but they were still skeptical about the actual effect, because they found the economic benefits brought by the operation and gradually accepted it.
