Bohol Island, Philippines

Introduction to Baohe Island Tourism

"Mint Island" should be a transliteration of Mint Island.

Baohe Island is the tenth largest island in the Philippines, 70 kilometers away from Cebu Mactan Island, and it is a coral island. The sand is not as fine as flour, but it is still cool to step on even in the sun. The beach is as white as snow, reflecting the sea water into distinct levels, with light green in the vicinity and deep blue in the distance.

There are ancient churches and Covenant monuments on the island. Don't forget to visit Tarsius Monkey, the world's smallest monkey, in the forest near Sikatuna village (opening time: 8:00- 16:00, it is recommended to donate appropriately). Going upstream by boat, you can see virgin forests, monkey reserves and waterfalls along the way. Or hiking, or swimming and diving, the poetic mood is waiting for you to appreciate.

Baohe Island is a diving paradise. Visitors with diving licenses can rent clothes and oxygen cylinders directly. For most beginners, it is necessary to hire a diving instructor. The total cost is about 60 dollars. Training takes about 1 half an hour. Then you can go out to sea by boat and enter the underwater world in various ways. It is said that clownfish can be seen in Finding Nemo.

Raiders details:

First of all, about money:

1 RMB ≈6.5 pesos. It is strongly recommended that you calculate the approximate cost and exchange the money ~ Because it is a small currency, you should call the Bank of China to make an appointment ~ There will be a 5% increase in the final settlement of the credit card for accommodation, diving and eating, and unlike Thailand, there is basically no UnionPay logo on the ATM.

Second, about the flow:

If you don't want to go to Cebu, there is a direct flight to Mint, Tagbilaran Airport. We flew from cebu pacific air to Manila, and then transferred to the Mint. The price is the same as that of flying to Cebu. I have seen many raiders before, all of which are to fly to Cebu first, and then go to Mint by boat. When I got there, I met a couple, both from Shanghai. Some of them also came by boat. Later I learned that they didn't know there was an airport on such a small island. But that airport is really broken. According to my husband, it's like flying and taking a bus. There is an airport construction fee of 20p when you check in. )

The traffic on the island is usually a taxi, motorcycle or taxi or tuk-tuk. It is generally 500-600 to take a taxi from the airport to alona Beach in Panglao. You can also borrow your own motorcycle, 500p a day, 600-700 p a day. No need to mortgage your passport. Just pay and sign an agreement and write down your hotel. Most people who go to Mint live on Panglao Island. It's more convenient to dive into the sea for dinner at alona beach, and there are more people, but it's not so lively when you talk too much. I'm bored to death at night. Unlike the city that never sleeps in Thailand, I usually go to my family or couples. It's not that high. Restaurants and bars on the beach close at eleven or twelve o'clock.

Third, about accommodation:

I recommend HAYAHAY, especially my fellow divers. Genesis diver, a few steps away, is also run by the same boss. The package with diving accommodation is very affordable. And their restaurant is very good! My husband and I feel that basically three meals a day are solved there. It's cool in his house. You can always take credit for it without money, and so can the Genesis diver. It's convenient to count together the day before departure. The room price is more than 300 RMB, which is normal at the seaside. We don't know whether it will be cut in the off-season and peak season. The style of the room is very distinctive. The feeling of a cabin, the refrigerator and safe have everything, and two bottles of water are sent every day, but the bathroom is relatively simple, but it doesn't matter if you live by the sea and have to wash the sand all the time. After all, we are glad to hear that some resorts sometimes have no hot water. If you want it cheaper, you can live behind the beach. It should be cheaper. We stayed for eleven days, and each of us dived for eleven days. One person brought his own equipment, and one borrowed BCD and reg. It cost 60,000-70,000 pesos to eat and drink comfortably, which was much lower than we expected. After all, food, shelter and so on are quite cool. P.S.HAYAHAY has a room as soon as possible 1 1, so book it in advance. If possible, it's best to give a sea view room with special requirements. My husband saw on the internet that someone didn't say anything all year round and gave it to us when he went, but he only booked it for five days at first. Don't inform someone of special requirements on the seventh day.

Four, about diving:

There are quite a few diving shops on the island. If you live in Hayahai and your English is good, you can go to genesis diver, which is convenient and cost-effective. English should be good in any subject, but we haven't compared it and it's hard to say anything, but it's still good from the perspective of Genesis diver's boat and service. The boat is the biggest boat there, so don't worry about equipping yourself. They will help you put it on the boat and assemble it. As long as you can wear it, it is most suitable for lazy people like my husband and me ~ Of course, if you want to take a class, don't forget to tip the diving guide at last. If you are not fluent in English, go to Infinite Blue. The shop is next to hayahay, and there are several Chinese tutors. You can also consider diving there. After all, safety comes first. It will be a tragedy if one neglects to understand something.

We will meet in front of genesis diver at 9:30 a.m. when diving, and have a sandwich for lunch early. Every day is like a spring outing ~ there is free coffee and tea on the drink boat, so you can make your own drinks. Write your name on a board when you take them. You don't need to bring money every day anyway. They will help you calculate the final bill for everything you eat and drink. It's really convenient ~ girls can bring a big towel and lie on the big platform in the middle of the boat, or spread it on the front deck to sunbathe when the waves are small. Otherwise, they will be marked and painted = = diving there twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon after lunch break, which is a very leisurely day ~

Before going, I heard that "Mint has nothing to do but dive". Since it is famous for diving, it must have its own advantages. No matter which beach you live on, except for the coral reefs near the shore, the main diving spots are concentrated around Bali Casag Island. I have to say, Barry Kasag's unique cliff landform, water temperature of 27-29 degrees all the year round and fairly good visibility (depending on the weather, visibility is about 15 to 30 meters) really make it a diving resort. There are all kinds of creatures on the bottom of the sea. Water flow and cliffs bring rich nutrients to the seabed, allowing all kinds of creatures to gather here. This time, however, we were unlucky and didn't see manta rays and whale sharks. The diving guide said that this place is also a cleaning station, and large aquatic creatures can often be seen wandering around in late winter and early spring.

Bali Casag Island faces the leeward side of mint, and the current on the seabed is weak, while the current on the other side of the strait is strong. It moves along the cliff along the coast of the island in a circular way, and every time it enters the water, it can drift slowly along the cliff with the current. You can watch all kinds of corals and aquatic life on the cliff without moving. This is really a very interesting experience. If you are lucky, you can also see a group of barracuda, about one hundred, each with a height of 1- 1.5 meters.

On the gentle side of the water surface, there are many weeds in shallow water, so it is easy to see turtles. This time, Balikazig can see turtles at least twice, some sleeping, some eating, and more wandering around. There are also many kinds of small creatures here, from anemone shrimp and hermit crab to silly stone fish and fog fish, which can be seen almost everywhere. On the coastal beach, if you look closely, you will find fish that look exactly like aquatic plants. If you don't look carefully, you will completely mistakenly think that these aquatic plants and algae are everywhere.

Coastal corals are also worth visiting. It's just the rainy season when we dive these days, and the sea looks a little green because of the mixing of sediment. The visibility near the coast is not very good, only about 10- 15 meters. Bohol's last dive was only about 5 minutes' boat ride from Alona Beach. Under the cliff at the bottom of the sea is a large piece of sand. It is easy to find easily frightened sand eels in the visual range, and you can only watch them stick their heads out of the sand and look around with their heads down. Several seahorses were also found on rocks and sticks on the seabed, all belonging to different species.

The underwater environment of Baohe is not perfect. In balicasag and inshore coral areas, many damaged corals can be seen around diving spots, especially in inshore areas. Many damaged traces are more like those left by fried fish, and many corals are still hung with fishing nets left by trawlers. Of course, this destructive fishing is no longer allowed in this area. Instead, I'm drooling over a group of bluefin tuna under balicasag. Domestic garbage such as wine bottles, packaging bags, damaged buoys and cables can be seen from time to time on the seabed, and there is a lack of organized marine cleaning.

Five, about island tourism and shopping:

A day trip on the island is usually a car rental. Many people on the beach will call you every day. The average car costs 2500 pesos a day, but the big car is not clear. Our car can take seven people, take a family of three and a couple who are both in Shanghai to go out to play ~ the advantage of many people is the lively economy, and riding for a day is not particularly impressive. It is a regular route, and the driver of the scenic spot will generally let you down. Go to see the tarsiers, chocolate hills, etc. At noon, we all went to a floating boat and had a buffet of 300 pesos. The boat fare was 100 pesos. Anyway, just look at a small river. When you arrive at a place, you must always look at the local characteristics ~

In the next two days, my husband and I rented a motorcycle and went out by ourselves. I suggest going to the bee farm to have a look ~ you can have a souvenir of buy buy. There is a bakery in it, and I bought mango sauce according to other people's suggestions. It's really delicious ~ I don't want to miss it when I buy ice cream ~ Mango tastes good, just like smearing, and there seems to be a little pepper in it, which makes me quit being sweet and greasy. Super delicious, highly recommended! I walked around in the evening and had a meal. We ordered a buffet, which seemed to be five or six hundred pesos, because everything was available, and ordering food was really expensive and uneconomical. It tastes good. Many dishes have honey. I remember a small sparerib was delicious and a salad dressing was great! Oh, by the way, he is finally going to deliver ice cream. If you eat buffet, you don't need to buy ice cream in front. The taste is the same ~ there are all kinds of breads in the appetizer, so you can buy them after eating. There are many ants in the whole bee farm ~

If you drive farther, you can visit the center of tagbilaran, which is close to the airport. We went to Bq shopping mall. There are locals there anyway. There is a supermarket downstairs and a shopping mall upstairs. The whole world is the same. It tastes quite cheap. There is a foot massage at half the price of the beach, and clothes are not particularly cheap. But if you buy small souvenirs like pendants, you can go there to buy them. The price is very cheap, a lot. Speaking of souvenirs, if you go out by motorcycle or rent a car, there is a souvenir shop next to a scenic spot called Blood Contract. Things are much cheaper than outside. Pearl necklaces are half cheaper than beaches, and T-shirts are cheaper than outside 1/3. If you pass by, buy all the souvenirs!

Useful tips:

Take some seasickness medicine and go out to sea forever without diving. Yes 17p. My husband and I vomited on the first day of boarding the plane without it, as if nothing had happened.

I don't see any 7- 1 1 or similar convenience stores, only a lot of small grocery stores. But the daily necessities in it are also complete, but I still suggest that you take whatever you can. After all, there is no need to carry luggage all the time.

It seems that the whole fat old man is only at the entrance of Arona Beach in the laundry room, and there is a Dada, weighing 40-55p kg, starting from 3kg. But because there may be only one, the service attitude is very poor, and we have been unable to be on time and always put off, but we are lazy and can't help it.

We left a little more cash when we left the island. My husband and I finally had dinner at Manila airport and asked if you could use a credit card, because we forgot to calculate the airport construction fee in Manila, which was 750 pesos per person! So the food cost is gone in an instant = = and Manila airport is really the worst international airport I have ever seen, just a small duty-free shop, and most of them are coffee shops, so if you wait a long time, you'd better go through customs later. There is a food court upstairs in the check-in hall, where you can eat ~

If you have friends who smoke Marlboros, you can buy some cigarettes. There are 5-pack and 10-pack mini bags, which are very cute. It seems that the price of a box of 10p 5-pack and 10p 10-pack is cheaper than that of Japanese duty-free shops, but it is said that the taste varies from place to place.

Summary:

I feel that the folk customs in the Philippines (at least in Mint Island) are still very simple, and I have never met any smugglers. However, at the airport, I heard a Fujian man say that drivers in Manila killed many people, probably because they didn't know English (so it's important to travel around the world and learn English well! )。
